Sorry mate but Southern Queensland has a bit to answer for also. Kilometers of irrigation channels dug unapproved, lack of metering equipment in working order. Irrigators up and down the river in every state my own included need to put on notice, no longer will this go on unpunished. I should of pressed that Barnaby Joyce is the biggest problem in Queensland for other states involved in the MDB plan.

AG is looking into Barnaby Joyce's dept and their handling of it. Need ICAC to get involved looking at NSW. NSW basically have one minister in question investigating himself.

The MDB plan needs a separate body to police and investigate breaches. It can't be left to any one State to police itself if the MDB plan is to work as intended. NSW have shown they weren't willing to do anything about the thefts prior to the 4Corners story, hopefully that attitude changes quickly now they've been caught doing an appalling job of water management thus far. Corrupt is a strong word but it looks as if certain ministers have been walking very close to the line if not over it.
Rice and Cotton,  supported by Politicians votes.    totally unrealistic to grow them and drain the Murray Darling Basin.  Given we use connected meters via SMS at my workplace, in this day and age no reason not to have linked meters and control all metered extraction.,   Then use drones to identify all pipes connected without meters.
Ha ha and we are trusting politicians to fix our electricity and gas problems the problems that they created , wait till the Adani mine is up and running after our pollies have pumped billions of dollars into one of the most corrupt companies on earth and after every disaster they have been responsible for 9 out of 10 people will vote the same corrupt politicians back into power  ::)

Holden asked for $160 million over ten years, The Gov is handing Adani $1 billion. Go figure.

Crazy stuff how many people did Holden employ ? other countries like Germany Sweden Italy France have viable car making industries why can't we all this talk of 10000 jobs with Adani is absolute rubbish most will probably be on 457 visas from India.  The Adani brothers whole history is of hiding money and avoiding tax and they will do the same here if it goes ahead it would be simple to say that they pay so much per tonne that arrives at the terminal end of story don't pay and we shut you down but I am 100% our politicians will flower it up so we earn basically nothing for our coal just like our gas .

Not absolutely sure how many were employed at it's peak when we were running 3 shifts but at a guess numbers may of been around 2500-3000 employees. The greater loss is from those companies that were suppliers of parts etc to Holden's which could be around 10,000 or more. Alot of our suppliers were also running multiple shifts to keep up with production.

Will never understand the Gov's willingness and eagerness to do business with Adani, they have a shocking reputation for environmental damage and tax avoidance aswell as a list of other shonky business practices that absolutely should be causing alarm bells for the Federal Gov but they continue to defend their decision to proceed with Adani's plans for the mine. I don't get it.

16 million a year does seem a piddling amount of money for all those jobs ex pollies with there nose in the trough would spend more than that each year unfortunately all we can do about it is a protest vote at elections to try and stop the madness the current clowns have just wasted 50 billion on a NBN that will be obsolete before it's finished 5G out next year I think and that will obliterate the copper NBN they have just squandered billions on I'm on wireless broadband and get better speeds than some on the NBN already
PS : just did a speed test download 85.98 mbps - upload 52.47 mbps it is not always that good but really why would you join up to the NBN  ::)

Maybe there are things we don't know about pollies maybe they are all given a frontal lobotomy before they get sworn in  :P

My ideal dream but will never happen is to have politicians doing what is the best for the country followed by what is best for their electorates regardless of party lines.

Parliament at the moment resembles a children's playground with all the name callings and tit for tit with very little visions for the future.

Just imagine the savings if the government gave consumers reasonable rebates for Solar Installations and battery storage.  Qld with the number of rooftop solar instalations is the equivalent of a power station. And just imagine what would happen if business premises especially warehouses were given incentives to install solar.

Its not just politicians and the political system that is failing, corporate business is in a similar position. Look at the profits the banks are making and they then come out stating they are cutting jobs for cost saving reasons. Or the salaries of the GMs of the big companies, yes they deserve to be paid well, but should they be getting 25-25 times more than a general worker who actually does the work.
Right now society is all about what is best for me, myself and I. There is no looking the future, no building rigorous structure, limited accountability at high level.
The workers are the ones who always get in trouble for mistakes, when in a lot of cases it is the manager who is paid more that is not doing their job effectively.
