Fellas!

Bit early but I am excited haha.

Gaz has been a fair way under-par and with players like Selwood, Pendles and Swan killing it. Who is considering not starting with the man in order to save cash and pick him up cheaper further down the track.

Based on last year's "magic number" that determines a players price Gaz will be priced at-

5350 x 127.10 = $679,985.

He has had a 3 round average of 84.

Is the master past it SC wise, by past it I mean going from 130+ avg to 115-125.

Could make a perfect upgrade target and I'm seriously considering it.

If you aren't starting with him- Who is your replacement and maybe list your starting midfield premos for 2014.

Discuss all you want guys :)

Upgrade target for me. The younger players stepping it up to another level next year will probably take a fair bit of points off him
I reckon

Have started with him every year that I have played (3 years) and will start with
him again next year. There are pro,s and con,s for both but I like to have the
points early and have the luxury of a captain.  I,m willing to lose that small
amount of money on him for the peace of mind

Will be an upgrade target for next year, for sure, although there is rumours about his knee, which may be the reason he's spending more time forward, hence the lower scores.. But in all honesty, I think with the blooding of more stars through the middle he may only score 115-125.

Thinking of starting with Pendles, Selwood, Watson, Griffen and Beams/Danger.

Yeah interesting guys. If its an injury, that really changes things. I reckon he will average 119, haha.

I will be starting with- Pendles, Selwood, Beams, Cotchin and one of Swan, Watson or Griffen. :)

Starting price will definitely be a factor. If he's unlikely to get any cheaper then I will probably start wih him.

Will start like a house on fire again and everyone will wonder why they ever doubted him. He's had a quiet month, not a quiet year. He is playing in a young side that will be pushing for a finals birth next year and he will lead the way as he always has. I'm kind of glad he is having this quiet finish as it makes his price more appealing next season.

At this point my starting midfield will consist of something like

Pendlebury, Ablett, Watson, Dangerfield

This is exactly who I was going to start with! Watson and Danger should be at a nice price considering what they are capable of averaging.

Think you have to lock in Gaz next year still. He's had a quiet month, but his year has been fantastic as usual. Can't see him dropping out of the top 3-5 SC mids any time soon.

While I agree with this, it's also worth mention Buddy Franklin. This is exactly what people said to me when I said I wasn't going to start with him this year as I thought his opening run would be tough. There was a chorus of "nah, he scored 190 on North Melbourne, he'll smash all these teams, you'll regret it etc etc" Man I wish I'd stuck with my gut, ended up "upgrading" with a little spare cash I had from SJ to Franklin (and also "upgraded" Goldy to Sauce before the start of the season) before round 1. Oh how I wish I had that money (and trades!) back now...

I'll watch and see what happens with the master during the NAB cup and see how he's tracking, at this stage he's still inside my starters but won't be first picked...

kilbluff1985

How would you get trades back that happened before round 1?

And GAJ prob won't even play the NAB cup :P

Holz

his value was that he was a step above everyone and you could just stick him C for a captains average of 130.

I have lost faith in him as auto captain, with martin coming in next year i cant see how he can rack up 35+ touches every week.

Pendles Watson Danger Selwood instead, im happy rotating captain between them.

It's a risky proposition not starting with him.  He's always been a fast starter.

Quote from: Fantasy Freako @FantasyFreakoSince 2008 (between Rnds 1-5) Gary Ablett has averaged (in order of most recent) 150, 114, 145, 159 and 152 #supercoach points.

That's from 08'-12'.  In the first 5 rounds of this year he averaged 136.

Looking at present figures as they are displayed he is an upgrade. He said himself that he would be spending more time up forward before the season started. The knee rumours are a worry,  BUT how will we feel about him if the injury is confirmed and is serious enough to drastically affect his form ?  He comes in to next season fully fit, Gold Coast are on the rise and he's 670+k. Under those circumstances he'd be my 1st pick but if there is no injury confirmation it would be wait and see. As for auto mid prem selections,  Beams, Pendles, Jelwood, Bennell and Liberatore. Cheers.

Blueboys

Too risky to not have him, set and forget..... 8)
