Congratulations to all players that earned a nomination, in particular Steve Johnson who was chosen to captain the team being the highest-averaging player in the SportsBet competition this year, with Dane Swan elected as his vice after a stellar season.

And on to the Rising Star!

The votes have been cast! Here are the results of the inaugural AXV Rising Star Award!

Based on a 5-4-3-2-1 voting system, 12 of the 16 AXV coaches cast their votes on who they believed to be the best player under 21 years of age with under 10 games of experience heading into the 2013 season. With a maximum of 60 votes to be awarded to each player, here are the top three Rising Stars of the AXV competition!

Tom Mitchell (Turkey)
AXV RS Votes: 23
Season Average: 126.8
Games Played: 10
High Score: 193

Turkey's Tom Mitchell burst onto the AXV scene mid-season, setting the competition alight with an amazing 10 game average of 126.8 points per game. It seems that the only thing  holding him back from becoming the inaugural AXV Rising Star was the fact he played half as many games as the two youngsters that finished above him in the award. Congratulations on a stellar second half of the season Tom!

Oliver Wines (Laos)
AXV RS Votes: 28
Season Average: 96.2
Games Played: 20
High Score: 174

Quadzilla! The powerfully built youngster from Laos, after an impressive debut season in which he did not miss a game, has been recognised for his achievement in coming second in the inaugural AXV rising star award. The first nomination for the year, Wines had an impressive first half of the season before tiring towards the end of the season, however his mammoth efforts early in the season were obviously enough to catch the eye of his opposition coaches!

Jaeger O'Meara (Bangkok)
AXV RS Votes: 59
Season Average: 119.2
Games Played: 20
High Score: 181

Was there ever any doubt? After an amazing debut season, over which he played all 20 games and was recognised in the AXV Team of the Week on a couple of occasions, Bangkok young gun Jaeger O'Meara has been recognised by the league's opposition coaches as the best young player in the competition. Congratulations on a fantastic debut season Jaeger, and a message to Bangkok's opposition - beware of this kid!

So what does everyone think of the results there? Think anything should've gone differently?

I'll post the full leaderboard after I have dinner! :)
