I got a dilemma this week. Have sandilands (terrible trade) and ROK. ROK's form is terrible and doesnt even look like scoring 100. Is it worth trading him to a mid who is going to go big and play Grundy in the Ruck. Or trade Sandilands to Minson and keep ROK. So basically its better premium and Grundy v ROK and Minson. Thoughts ??

keep faith in your premiums, you traded ROK as a mid premo (I'm not 100% convinced) so keep him and add another premo in Minson to your team. Playing boom rookies at this end of the years just ends in tears.

Grundy vs an in form Cox would be flirting with any new kinds of Danger, ROK and Minson for me

Yeh ROK and Minson wins pretty easily imo. ROK is due for a big one

Should be a tight contested battle on Saturday. I reckon ROK will have about 10 tackles  :)

Alright keep ROK it is. I have Murphy riding pine at the moment and i am guessing you would suggest ROK over Murphy on field ??

I'm going to throw a spanner in the works :)
If I had of played Grundy over Sandi last week I'd be in 4 pre-lims not 2. I am seriously thinking of playing him this week and trading Heppell and moving on Harbrow. Ruckman Suck! The only worthwhile ruckman is Cox, Nicholls has been far and away my best R2 of the season. Why pay top dollar for a 60 - 90 when a rook can do the same job? If your pissed with ROK trade him, Midfeild scoring is way more important. I'm in the luxury position of being able to play Okeefe at M9 but I'm leaning towards playing Grundy and trading Harbrow in the chase for more points....... In hindsight I should have done it last week.
Sorry to disagree with everyone but that's just my opinion ;)

I wouldn't do it. Play Grundy, that is. I'd be expecting a 50-60 from him this week up against Cox.

GRUNDY'S SCORES:                OPPOSITION RUCKMAN SCORES:

92 (Witts: 95)                        Giles (56) Brogan (57)
57                                        Ryder 91
55                                        Mumford 95
91                                        Bailey (55)* Hale (92)**

*Subbed off late in the third
**Got most of his points in the forward line, not playing on Grundy

So I think Grundy will score well when he's not up against elite ruckman (Bailey and Hale are not elite ruckman, imo), whereas when he comes up against the likes of Ryder and Mumford (and Cox this weekend), he puts out 50-60.

I'd be careful this weekend.

Very nice stats Jam, as always I love your work :) But let me play devils advacate....,,
Unfortunately I'm at work and don't have time to find stats but the Blitz nearly tonned up against West Coast and the Eagles are playing like spuds. Cox has never been a real strong ruckman like Mumford and is less likely to monster his opponents. Cox uses his intelligence around the ground to win his battles so that may be a plus for Grundy. I would like to see the stats of ruckman Cox has played against...... I'll bet he gives up some scores ;)

Thanks, mate.

Looking over the past 6 rounds makes for interesting reading. Nothing particularly conclusive coming from Cox's opponent's scores:

Cox v _____
59 v Sandi (53) & Clarke (41) (wasn't a very ruck friendly game, apparently)
79 v Mumford (69)
102 v Minson (112)
141 v Gorringe (71)
107 v Ryder (59)
98 v Blicavs (96)

You might be right. You'd expect Collingwood to well and truly smack the Eagles, and perhaps Cox's defensive efforts on opposition ruckman aint all that...

Glort

Yep, Coxy's defensive stuff can be ordinary....... and if Grundy floats forward could cause problems. If Grundy Plays  ;D

smoothM24

After all this i am unsure again haha

Glort

Sorry to confuse u mate :) I just thought this thread would benefit from a different point of view. Also I'm guessing like me you brought Sandi in for the Melbourne/GWS combo.......  :-X
This should be a warning for those that think Minson will defiantly get a ton against Melb..... I wish someone had of reminded me the only decent players Melbourne have are ruckman!
Minson SHOULD get near the ton, but I wouldn't base my plans on it :)
