Figured I'd do a defender poll, as I'm sure everyone has at least 1-3 defenders that aren't on this list, that will more than likely be out this week.

The stats:

  • O'Brien: 91, 113, 103, 96 since his return on r18. Playing off the wing/halfback role, similar to that of Ellis. In some ripping form and must be considered this week. Tough run home DT wise, but I feel he will keep his form going.

  • Pearce: 96, 94, 124 in his last three. Playing more in the middle. High ceiling, but can be risky. Decent run home. Consider.

  • Murphy: 92, 93, 77, 95 in his last four. Consistent and the dogs love to setup the play through this guy. Loves a tackle here and there as well. Lions and Demons to finish the year, which could mean party time. Highly consider

  • Birchall: 76 on return. Started the season well with four tons, but then dropped off. Can we back him in? Tough DT draw ahead.

  • Scotland: 129, 126, 98, 76 in his last four. After a slow start to the season, with a role change, Scotland's DT days looked to be over. However, lately he's been finding more of the pill and is worth considering. Bombers and Port to come, but I'd back him in to still be solid.

Duffman is another option worth looking at as well. Two 90+ scores from his past four isn't bad, but not sure I'd be backing him in over the others. Maybe Birchall.

Thoughts?

I'm going Birch I think. After much thought, the extra cash from going Birchall over Bob Murphy gives me enough to upgrade Staker to Pavlich, which means JJK can sit on the bench.

Already got Duffield (started with him) and Scotland (have had him since round 7). Might still go Bob though...

Could be worth the risk. Pav should be solid in his next two (Power and then the Saints without key defenders).

Not sure I'd back Birchall over Murphy but. High Reward/Risk vs. Consistency for me on that one. Birchall doesn't have a favorable draw either, where as Murphy does.

I'm looking at going either Harry O or Murphy atm, if I have to make one change. Pearce will come into the mix but, if I have to make two.

Anyone considered Sammy Butler? 82, 90, 82, 93, 103 are his last 5
Would be a huge POD

Completely missed him entirely. Great scores. Definitely worth a look at on the basis of that.

Gave you a cheer for that one.

Adamant

Yeah, Butler has been in great form. Averaged 84 a couple of years ago too, so a proven scorer when fit.

He could be a great option.

Geez Rico give out my smokie ;)

I should have grabbed him last week instead of Hartlett

Hey mate, sorry I didn't see your post when I made mine... I like Harry as a replacement. Second one is tough. So many options around the same mark but just got to be lucky on the day. Im thinking Murphy with the Dogs going alright at the moment...

All good mate. The more the merrier :)

I agree. The second choice is tough, but Murphy's consistency and draw puts him above the others for me.

i'm also considering Stanley

the highest GC def scorer at the weekend, and they have a pretty easy run in (StKilda and GWS)
would have backed him in at the start of the season, a bit more exxy than other options (Birchall) at 360k
67, 89, 66, 78, 106 in his last 5

seems to have lost the consistency that did him oh so well last year, but could be a viable option
wouldn't ordinarily have brought him in, but needs must at this time of year (Hanley and Heppell :( )
i just don't know

EDIT: BIG NEWS ON HANLEY (damn copy and paste)
tl:dr - Hanley said he's a bit sore and was subbed off as a precaution
