The Lions have announced that the New Elite Training and Administration Facility will be built at Springfield with completion in 2016.

This facility will consolidate the Lions various training venues  (currently use Coorparoo and Yeronga), the Youth Academy  and Administration in one location and will be great for the club.  Will also provide start of the art facilities as well. This will help us keep pace with the other clubs in the AFL.

Springfield Lakes is in the Western growth corridor and whilst it will be a good facility it is probably a good 20km from the Gabba which will continue to be used for AFL matches.

Personally will have preferred choosing the QE11 option as it is much closer for me but that is a selfish reason.  Will now mean a 45 minute trip when complete to attend training etc.

Look forward to the completion though and obviously with all the club now co located in one location will be better.

Is it the Brisbane Lions or the Logan Lions :o Before we know it we'll be back at Carrara  :P

Springfield is actually in the Ipswich City Council area though.

Premiership Games are locked into the Gabba and the push will continue to be on as we are the major tennants for drop in pitches to be used.  With the early start proposed for the AFL next year and cricket season we may have our first six matches on the road which is not an ideal situation for the new coach who will be trying to get off to a good start.

Just to clarify, we will not be changing our name to the Isotopes and as far as we are aware, there is no monorail.
