After tonights terrible performance from Sydney against Collingwood the Swans may find themself outside the top 4. this was a must win game imo and now this is how it looks:

Sydney 58
Essendon 52
Richmond 52
Colllingwood 52

run home for these teams

Sydney -
St Kilda - Win
Geelong - Loss
Hawthorn - 50/50
Points 62-66?

Essendon -
Eagles - Win
North - 50/50
Carlton - Win
Richmond - 50/50
Points 60-68(May lose their points anyway)

Richmond -
Carlton - Win
GWS - Win
Essendon - 50/50
Points 60-64

Collingwood -
Hawthorn - Loss
West Coast - Win
North - 50/50
Points 56-60

To me Sydney need to either beat Hawthorn or Geelong. If Essendon don't lose their points then they could potentially win every game and take 4th anyway but I doubt they will. I think it may come down to Richmond V Essendon in the last round.

Do you think Sydney will hold their spot in the top 4 or will one of the other teams take it?  :-\

Yes they could, but i think it comes down to if the dons beat the eagles on the weekend

We also need to beat ASADA/AFL later this month...

Have a read of this. If you guys lose to both Geelong and Hawthorn, you can finish as low as 6th!
Win either one and you finish 4th.
Win both and you can finish as high as first!!!

Thanks to Carlton beating the Tigers and Hawthorn beating Collingwood, plus getting the win over the Saints. The Swans are now locked in the top 4  ;D

Typical Richmond. Get a sniff so throw it away at the first opportunity. Swans did deserve to be top 4 though.

Have the Tigers said the "F" word yet?? One week they look awesome the next not so.

Swans didnt finish well today either. Top 4 finished all but guaranteed but also the Swans will finished 3rd or 4th and then not have to play a game at ANZ for the first week of the finals (where the Swans hate to play)

The 'F' word is free to be mentioned, I don't think it's possible for us the slip out of the 8, but we really could have given the top 4 a real crack had we beaten the Blues. Losses like these always worry me, especially when we start well and then get completely outplayed.

Good on the Swans though, it looked as if they were in trouble, but I think they might actually be a chance to win the next two games, maybe not a great one, but it's certainly possible. I hope they do well in September, I'm a fan.

being assured of the top4 makes me think we will manage our players over the next two weeks

I'd hope not; I would really like to see us roll Geelong or Hawthorn for a bit of confidence. As strange as it sounds, we haven't beaten a top 4 side this season  :-\

:o I hadn't realised that, it might be interesting to see whether the Swans do rest players then.

To be honest, I'm not too fussed, as long as Rooster plays!

i know what you are saying, but with 2 games to go, we can afford to play some cards close. we need to win both to finish top2 so not much of an issue

I dont think the Swans can bring anyone else back his week if they play Rooster. Rooster needs some game time in the 1s  but cant play a full game yet imo

kilbluff1985

wouldn't they want a top 2 spot ? instead of resting players

maybe some older guys like McVeigh, Bolton or Ceski but i doubt like JPK, Hannebery or Jack
