Where are these Smith rumours coming from? I haven't heard any of them. I did read that he hoped to play in the midfield more but that was it.

No real proof, but many reporters seem to believe club have a strong chance of convincing him to leave, now that Franklin is gone. They also believe that we're be entertaining offers in case a opportunity arises.

I don't really mind it. He's a good player sure, but leave it up to him on whether he wants to go
Hmmm, would much rather keep him. Who's going to play on the small forward if he leaves?
the rumour was Smith to Dees and he would be in their leadership group. Hopefully he stays as i think he will replace macca as co-captain in future years

really hope smith stays. though if we gained #2 i could be pursuaded
The Smith rumours have faded but the Everitt rumours are now going around. Which sucks as he played pretty well all year. Thought Armstrong would go before Everit, unless (like White) he is in demand

Think you hit the nail on the head there Tabs. Everett has some currency. Armstrong has little.

While Everett played well this year, I think he is holding back some guys like Towers/Membrey who can play a similar role

Mailman the 2nd

Surely the only priorities left would be to get a ruckman and a Key position backman. Not sure about who's floating round in the draft though

Agreed Syd. Everitt is replaceable.

Sam Naismith  now to be known as the Crayfish

QuoteSam Naismith ‏@NaismithSam 6 Aug
Had fun at the @sydneyswans friendly clubs visit this afternoon. Plenty of kids calling me crayfish thanks to @luke_parker26 and R Shaw.....

Do think Mark Jamar might be looked at as a short term option?

I saw he was going to be traded and has a decent record

Mailman the 2nd

Also another issue I found has that Richards and Grundy are #1 and #2 for % time on ground for the entire league. While obviously they're both crucial players maybe an indication of what we need to target

Only if he's interested in playing reserves each week; I really don't want him anywhere near our staring line up unless he makes some dramatic improvement to regain his career best form.

I think we're fine with Pyke and Naismith tbh.

To be fair here, Jamar averaged more hitouts per game than both Mumford and Pyke (Jamar was 4th best for hitouts per game) and he played with Melbourne, so that's more or less an achievement in itself.

He's much better than Naismith (who probably still has a lo of work) and is only a little a bit behind Pykey.

Makes a decent combo while he's developing at least

Fair call, but I'm just saying that we showed this year that we're way too top heavy when playing with two ruckman. Now with Buddy, we definitely can't afford to play Pyke + Jamar, so he'd have to be happy with playing reserves.

From what i understand, due to the 120 interchange movements per game, the Swans have gone for a more mobile team. Mummy spent more time on the bench as he was bigger. I dont think we will look for rucks this draft. Key back first and foremost

Mailman the 2nd

yeah i was barking up the wrong tree a key defender is probably all thats left, just draft a ruckman to develop as well

Capper

Armstrong and Everitt are both off contract, hence why Everitt is on the table. Wouldnt be surprised if Armstrong went to GWS and Everitt moved back to Victoria

QuoteSYDNEY SWANS
The Swans' main aim should be improving their position for the upcoming NAB AFL Draft. They currently have selections 14, 31, 49, 67, 85 and 121, and while some talent can no doubt be found there, the Swans should be doing their best to move up in the draft. Jesse White wants out and Tony Armstrong and Andrejs Everitt are off contract and should have some value to other clubs. They could do with some added depth defensively and in the ruck, but the Swans are relatively happy with their list and don't have much room to move following the additions of Kurt Tippett and Lance Franklin over the past 12 months. It won't be easy, but snaring another first or second-round pick should be the priority. - James Dampney

Mailman the 2nd

Well pick 2 is off the table I'd guess, so I'm assuming the only ones left to decide are Armstrong and Everitt
