i was looking at bringing in roughead this week but after franklins big performance is it worth going him and and using the extra 40k to upgrade. was it a one of performance......

hardnut

it is until he does it again. IF/WHEN he does it again he may be back and brought into my team, always carves the bombers

I hope not as i traded him to roo two rounds ago after holding him for so long. It worked the first week, this weekend hurt though... looks like roo might get up this weekend, all he did was chip some of his bone off and its floating around his foot so nothing serious.... its not like he needs his foot, he can just handball goals instead  ::)

okay... put it this way
it was the first time that Buddy's made team of the week this year (usually around 105 for a FWD) - but has been as high as 118 in rd7, and as low as a ton in rd12
in comparison, Roughead's been in it 3 times (as a FWD), but not since rd14 (where he got a bad cork vs Brisbane in Tassie, and hasn't looked the same since)

plus Roughead's run in isn't too flash (last 3 average Richmond 75, StKilda 94, C'wood 68, North 70, Sydney 89)
i'd be looking elsewhere (and probably not to Buddy either) - maybe Lynch/Boomer?

tl:dr - not convinced of Buddy, Roughead's dropped off (imo) would look elsewhere

Andrew

Buddy plays Richmond this week, sure to have Rance go to him. Last 3 games v Tigers: 95, 100, 95 (approx). So he shouldn't go up too much more scoring around that, $15-20k, easy to hold off. But he does look back in town, looked fitter than he has all year and that's just about all I need to hear to pickup Buddy for under $400k... I feel like Buddy will outscore Roughead by 10-30 points a game from here, no ruck time for Roughead means honeymoon is over :(

From my thing I just posted:

I think I'm in the minority people who was actually happy that I didn't have Franklin last week. Ok, huzzah, he broke the ton for the first time in ages, but the way he did it was hopelessly ineffective compared to a midfielder.

Look at Jack Riewoldt, he's a two time Coleman medallist, in 2010 and 2012. Yet despite kicking 78 and 65 goals respectively in those seasons, he was certainly not leading in DT scores, averaging a respectable yet unremarkable 83.6 and 80.1

Back to last week's game. Buddy kicked 8 goals. And he probably was always going to do well against the Dons, seeing as he averages 6 goals per game on them since 2007. Considering that a goal is worth at least 9 points (kick +3, goal +6), that gives Buddy 72 points from his goal-kicking. That's not including marks. The fact is that Buddy only just averages 3 goals per game this season. If Buddy did get his usual three goals last week, his score would be reduced to 77 at best, probably less.

If you are thinking of bringing in Franklin, remember that he's a key forward, who does diddly-squat when chucked in the midfield.

Exactly the same here, had buddy since round 1, then traded him last week to nroo. Buddy won't kick 8 every week and loves playing the bombers, I'm not yet convinced my trade was a bad one.

Well said Stew. 8.3 is not going to be the norm for Buddy. Maybe 3.8.

The reality is Buddy is Buddy. On his day is the most unstoppable player in the AFL. He's still kicking goals but us down on his usual DT output and I think his average is pretty spot in where he's at this year. I wouldn't say he's under performing, hawthorn in general I think r down in their usual DT output. Possible slight tweak on their gameplay. Buddy still capable of doing anything.

And he hasn't been on his day very often this season...
