Haha no it wasn't, Mitchell will continue to dominate. He isn't even 20 yet.

Swallow is 27 by the time he starts playing and probably has 3-4 years left.

So 3-4 years vs 9-10 years.

Not just for next season mate.

Ricochet

So with Swallow missing some of next year...  the trade was based on one season?

EDIT: sorry deleted and reposted to be more clear

Was partly why I wanted to trade him it does drop his value a bit but the trade wasn't based on one season that's just silly

My team is very young and I have pick 5 so suits me better

Vinny

I needed an experienced midfielder, my average midfield age is somewhere between 18-20.

Palmer also averaged similar to Mitchell in his first year and won a Rising Star... just saying :P

Not saying he's not a good kid, but he's still a kid. The reason you pay more for proven premo's is because they are proven and you have more certainty. Obviously anything can happen to both players but you can be more certain with proven players. Palmer is just one example, Swift is another (touted as the best 16 year old in the country).

Not disputing your reasons for the trade either. Just pointing out that it is uneven.

It's like giving up Nicholls for NicNat/Goldy/etc with a tiny pick upgrade

kilbluff1985

Bit different Swallow wasnt even that good this year argue all he want it was an off year still only averaged 126 nothing special for a mid

Goldstein would be one of if not the best ruck in this league CBF looking up scores plus good rucks are worth more don't think you can compare them with our trade

Yes he is, he turned 20 back in May :P

Ricochet

Yeh but its ruck for a ruck so you can compare and use as an example.

Nicholls averaged 107 before his injury game. Averaged 99 for the year with that sub game included.
Goldy 102 for the year. Minson 110 was at #1.

If you had Minson/Goldy, would you go Nicholls for Minson/Goldstein?

That's fair enough man but you should have gotten more, that trade is uneven. With his injury affected season Swallow is about 6DT points below his average that he has consistently posted for the past 3-4 years. That would put him at 130+ which he was going at for nearly all of his season. Mitchell has posted 111 in his first year but it was still his first year. Kids futures are more uncertain compared to a proven premo who is the captain of his club. Palmer also averaged similar to Mitchell in his first year and won a Rising Star... just saying :P

i guess but considering Swallow is out for half the year or so his value drops and Mitchell's increases a bit not sure if you have factored that it
This is really the only reason I think the Bombers win.

So why did you say "bombers winning big" as the first comment after the confirmation of the trade? If thats your only reason, then its not really them winning big right?

Mitchell faded badly at the end of the year, for all we know that's how he will play throughout the rest of his career but we do know that Swallow is a proven premo. Yes you can trade a proven premo for a gun kid, thats all fine and dandy but a pick upgrade of 20 isn't good enough in my opinion - especially upgrading to pick 25 where the draft thins out, its not like you got a top 15 pick too and can try your luck selecting a gun kid from the draft
Oh flower, I just read my last two posts in this thread... I meant Owls.  :-[

I haven't been thinking straight all day. Can't even delete those posts since it's been quoted.  :-\

#Badgers have Nicholls and Minson :P

You can't compare it Swallow is like just an average premo mid which are pretty easy to find elite Rucks like Goldy are rare as it's crazy to compare them

Vinny

Rucks are far more difficult to find than midfielders. There will be a handful of rucks that average well.

Midfielders over 120, there is over 30.
