the thing i cant understand is why you would want so many trades? if you are going to have two periods with 8 movements in each or unlimited, we might as well all just draft a whole new team each season since teams will look nothing like they did the season before with unlimited trades, it is just unthinkable to imagine any afl club ever has so many trades in any season it doesnt happen.
I swear you are the first person that has mentioned this view point from all four comps, and it's one that I've always agreed with. Why people should be able to turn their crap into gold in one offseason is shocking and how other teams let it happen is bizarre. Sort of like how one club gave Cotch a 10 year deal, then traded him last offseason (I think it was Euros). So much unneccessary trading, I'm also a culprit I'll admit, I just traded Tom Mitchell despite saying he was untouchable, but for it to happen on a regular basis would make a terrible comp. :)

Haha plus when you have made for example two movements already and you want to make another trade involving four movements perhaps, you aren't left in trouble because you only have five maximum until next period. However if someone decides to blow all 10 movements early, that is their fault. Adds strategy too. :)

kilbluff1985

Lol same argument could be made if you blow all of your 5 movements in the 1st period then it's your fault

Vinny

Yeah I guess, but since you have more in a period, it is more tempting to blow! :P

Colliwobblers

I don't mind not restricting the list movements to 10 overall whatever period but could hurt the trigger happy traders who have no movements left after the draft.

still i guess between what the boss says and what is popular, things can always be changed...

That's what she said

Vinny

Haha good form!

Colli, that's their fault. Gotta trade smart ;)

Justin Bieber

Anyone want to trade?

Young rucks in Nicholls and Fitzpatrick if anyone's keen.

Another discussion point which I am not in favour of could be unlimited trades with the introduction of a minimum and maximum points cap.

Think the list movements helps balance teams rather than points cap but just my opinion.

unlimited trades is completely nothing like a genuine AFL competition.

points cap makes sense but is totally unfair to teams that drafted youth for the future, just as they get good they will have to cut their players to get under a point cap....

the thing i cant understand is why you would want so many trades? if you are going to have two periods with 8 movements in each or unlimited, we might as well all just draft a whole new team each season since teams will look nothing like they did the season before with unlimited trades, it is just unthinkable to imagine any afl club ever has so many trades in any season it doesnt happen.

but i guess if we dont care if this is anything like the afl unlimited trades would be fine....

as for the points cap it has merit as a ay of balancing sides which is its only purpose imo. but i cant see how you could fairly introduce it as it will hurt the youth clubs who suffer now for drafting youth, then will suffer later as all their youth get to premium status at the same time and have to be delisted due to exceeding a point cap introduced after they drafted their team...

food for thought. an answer would be good because a future points cap is on the cards in AXVS - increased list movements are NOT.

maybe a points cap to be introduced gradually over a couple of seasons, but not for a few seasons to give the youth drafted clubs i refer to a genuine chance at the flag they planned for in a few years when drafting?

i dont know...  might have to talk to Os ;)
:o Potential points cap in AXV? No, no, no, no, no. I think point caps are the stupidest thing in a XV competition. It is like having an AFL Club and saying, no you are too good, you have to give up some of your top players for crap players. If people are worried that one club is getting too good, then don't trade with them!

Colliwobblers

i tend to agree BB but there is a salary cap in the AFL.

anyway - would be a loooooooong way down the track - years - and peer reviewed :)

Vinny

I don't think I like the cap to be honest. :P

Justin Bieber

Yeah mine and cw's team will be too strong we would have to sell our guns :P

Ringo

Comments and this idea going forward and have not really though it through so feel free to disagree or offer further suggestions:

Rather than a cap which I am not really keen on.

Teams finishing 9th - 14th get an extra trade player movement
Teams finishing 15th - 18th get 2 extra trade player movements

Regarding the player movements thinking of this rule:
A total of 10 Player movements are allowed for the trade periods with a minimum of 2 having to be used in 2nd trade period.

Vinny

Sounds good. But I don't mind not having the extra movements however it would even out the competition more. :)

But what if a bottom team wants to trade with a top team and they have two movements left but the top team has none?
