I just wanted to know your thoughts on a top 10 with all this carnage and inconsistency in the back line this year.

Vinny

Tough one but I'll give it a try. ( No Order )

Gibbs
Goddard
Hanley
Mckenzie
Heppell
Ibbotson
Shaw
Scott Thompson
Malceski
Hibberd

Talking about average or totals? Been a terrible year for defenders. Only 2 averaging over 100 and only just   :o

Ringo

Agree been a terrible year. Only possible change to Vinny's list would be Hartlett maybe for Hibberd.

Vinny

Hope we get players like Walker and Mitchell for DPP next year. Would give us some better options up back.

Also to consider if DPP is gained. McVeigh and Kade Simpson.

Yeh this seems about right. Based on averages I can see Grimes pushing into this list though

All the top defenders have been named. It's been the position that has caused the most headaches.
I only started with 3 premium backs this year...Goddard, Gibbs and Hanley....so on that score I did well...those that went with a 4 or 5 premium filled defence in R1 have probably struggled way more in comparison.
Goodes, Terlich and Staker for what they have offered at their considerably cheaper starting prices would feature in the "most important 10 backs this year"

I started with only 2 premium defenders due to the uncertainty of who would be the better premiums and the fact there were a number of solid rookie options at the start of the year. It hasn't worked though as each time I've tried to bring in another premium they've either got injured or their form has trailed off.

It seems like I've spent so many trades on defence this year and I still haven't got 6 premiums  :'(

I suppose it doesn't matter how many premium defenders you started with then...just which ones you had.
I think I've been reasonably lucky...my defensive trades this year have been...
Pittard to Wright (good), Heath to Vlaustin (excellent), Stevenson to Thurlow (good), Neade to Staker (not really defensive but with DPP and present team- excellent), Terlich to Birchall (didn't work out), Birchall to Shaw (good), Vlaustin to Clisby (good), Thurlow to XRichards (good-DPP link), Wright to Grimes(last week) and Goodes to McKenzie(this week)...a lot of trades there but that was always going to be the case starting with so many rookies.

Yeah similar story for me, backline has had the most trades but also made me most of my money, I started the year with 6 of my final mids (Until I sideways-traded Jobe) and 4 of my final forwards. A couple of good lower price picks (Mundy and JPK, take a bow). But 3 premo backmen started, which became 2. Thank goodness for the likes of Vlatuin, Goodes and Terlich who got great scores (pretty close to the top 10 list players) for a fraction of the price!
