Not hear to comment on whether Premiership captain Nick Maxwell is overrated or dual Brownlow medallist Robert Harvey's career was a waste, but mostly just to say that this article:

Makes Matthew Scarlett sound like an arrogant flog. Even if everything he said is a 100% true, it is incredibly undignified.

And this being very ironic:

QuoteThat's how I played football. What happens on the field, stays on the field, and when the siren goes you always shake hands and walk away.

But then goes onto publish everything that happened on the field in a book!!!

Scarlett, you were a legend, but this is very poor.

nup, fair enough.

it's an autobiography, he's telling his life. Maxwell is overrated, as a captain doing that was incredibly unsportsmanlike. And harvey was clearly being a prick and deserved the spray he got.

Probably stems from the fact I hate auto biographies! You never know how much is fact, how much is perception, how much is edited or how much is lie. They are basically just one long rant.

But Scarlett has said that he loves sledging (and likes to publish it apparentally), but gets annoyed when people sledge back.

Ziplock

to be fair, that's a very small exert from his book- we don't know exactly how accurate/ truthful he was. Maybe he just 100% told it the way it was :P

and there's appropriate/ inappropriate forms of sledging. As a team captain, going up to your opposition's huddle and giving them a spray is poor. Tearing shreds off someone because of their family issues is also poor.

Agree with the family comments, don't really for the huddle though :P

for most players, the huddle thing wouldn't be poor, but really I don't think it's right for a captain, and it shows poor discipline.. Scarlett's issue with it is that he sees maxwell as being categorised in the same vein as harley, who (from what I read), wouldn't be doing shower like that.

The one thing I can't fathom is why the captain of a club that is 7 points down at 3 quarter time in a grand final is over hurling abuse at the opposition huddle.

Surely there are far more productive things to be doing in the final break before a quarter that essentially defines players careers?

My thoughts anyway :P

It was 3 quarter time for the 2010 Prelim when the Pies were 60 points up :)

Ah! My mistake. In that case, FAIR GAME MAXY!
