T Mitch to M Murph?

What are your thoughts on downgrading Mitchell to Murphy? Everyone has Mitchell and Murphy is going along very quietly, and at $376,000 with a reasonable draw, and his past history he could be a great POD who can average 105-115 for the rest of the year. He will sit at M8/9 for the rest of the year hopefully.

I will have 3 trades and $205k left after the proposed trades. If I don't do the trade ill have to upgrade Hrovat and it'll only leave me with $69k and Mitchell and Swallow on the bench, a bit top heavy.

Team as it will stand.

Goddard, Gibbs, Shaw, Heppell, Hanley, Grimes (Clisby, Oxley)
Ablett, Pendlebury, Swan, Selwood, Danger, JPK, Priddis, Murphy (A Swallow, Hrovat)
Goldstein, Maric (Nicholls, Currie)
Martin, Rockliff, Walker, Cox, Bartel, Staker (Franklin, B Kennedy)

With Hanley out I'm fine with playing Clisby for the one week, then putting Staker back once Bartel returns and playing him at D6 until Hanley's back. Danger out means Swallow will play, and he plays Melbourne so hopefully he can go big.

Thoughts, better ideas? Hopefully this is the last time ill have to post on here for help.

Thankyou!

I'd be more inclined to trade Hrovat to Murphy, it will allow for a couple of injuries when the trades dry up.

Don't want to do that because it means ill have to downgrade somewhere for my final two upgrades and I don't want to do that.

Two final upgrades will be Priddis > Griff and Swallow > D Beams

Means I have one sideways trade with no money, instead of no trades at all and money in the bank which I won't be able to use.

roo boys!

Not a bad idea, I mean you will gain the cash out of it but I feel the PPG you will gain will be relatively minimal, compared to say upgrading someone like Maric (although went OK on Sunday) or Buddy to a super premo.

Mitchell has obviously been fantastic, and is in better form than Murphy anyway. I've learned in this game that form is massive, all good and well to back a player in on reputation and knowing what they're capable of, but I'd want a more convincing run of form from Murphy until I'd bring him in.

54 in his first game back, 75 and then just cracking the ton on the weekend in a win...If Carlton had lost that he wouldn't have got 103, you'd imagine he'd be down in the 90s somewhere.

To have Swallow on the bench is an absolute luxury, let alone having him and Mitchell if you upgrade Hrovat....I'd still be inclined to go down that path as Danger could be out a little longer than expected. Hopefully not!

Like you said Swallow could go big against Melbourne, although he's one of those players that often relishes the big contests too...I guess time will tell, you'd imagine he'd rack up the clearances through the middle though with slightly lesser players to contend with than what he's used to over the last few weeks when he's been down.

Last week I would have suggested a Maric -> Minson/Roughy upgrade to get that extra 10 ppg, but now I'm not so sure. He was ok against a Sandi-less Freo, but would still like to see him string some more good ones together before I'd back him in again. If Buddy isn't back this week, which he should be, Buddy -> Rough sound tempting?

Good looking team btw mate, good stuff.

I say do it as you have him on the ground. Think Tmitch might hit that wall soon and Murphy is just hitting his straps.

I'm was thinking of doing Tmitch to Murphy also as my M9 and would probably do it if I had the loophole option but with both bench players playing and 2 Trades I don't think it is wise or worth it.

tbagrocks

Not sure what is wrong with Murphs football, Captain, No1? Judd an Gibbs with Simpson, why No1 tag?

Well this kid is playing like he is from a potato farmer, maybe soon he will realize again he was a No 1 pick?

Murph becomes a great pick for next year when the Blues stake their final claim before rebuild!

Vinny

Hmm to be honest mate - The trade isn't worth it.

TMitchell is still scoring well and has a shower load of cash to make.

Plus the PPG gained per game isn't worth it.

I would hold a week because Swallow vs Dees then trade him to Griffen after he drops.

Just what I would do mate - Very nice team tho. :)

Murphy is a lock for sure next year. Hope it doesn't come to us rebuilding :-\

NO WAY! why would u trade mitchell?

Lads the point of the trade is to be able to gain myself enough cash to do two upgrades in the coming weeks.

Without the trade I will find myself unable to upgrade Priddis and Swallow and let's face it.. They're only good for a 95-105 average with the occasional big score.

Beams and Griff can both go huge and I'm talking 130+ and could both average 125+ for the rest of the year. That's an additional 50 points per game through 2 trades with Murph warming the bench at M9.

As much as I like Mitchell, I just think Murph has more to offer and I don't want to be trading out any of my other bench players as they all have a purpose and are doing well.

Clisby as my Def emergency, Oxley as loophole.
Nicholls as Ruck emergency, Currie as loophole.
Staker as Fwd and Def emergency, B Kennedy as loophole.
Hrovat as Mid emergency, and one of T Mitch/M Murphy as loophole.

Call me crazy, but I'm not really worried about the PPG as they won't be on field for long (Until Dangers back) and with that my Mids will end up as

Ablett, Pendlebury, Swan, Danger, Selwood, Beams, Griffen, JPK (Murph, Hrovat)

And as far as form is concerned.. Remember Joel Selwood earlier in the year? And now look at his past 5 weeks? Swan had three bad weeks then went BANG and had a few huge weeks. Murph has a huge ceiling and a good draw, whereas T Mitch is playing well but he's not proven. Sydney have some tough games in the last 5 weeks so I'm not overly fond of playing Mitchell in those circumstances.

Someone prove me wrong and make me go otherwise?
I think I'll go for it.

I really like the idea, im in the same boat but id be trading Murph purely for bench cover and 60k odd or whatever it is. My only concern is like you having 3 trades up the sleeve for another 6 weeks.

I like the thinking but I reckon there will be many more forks in the road before you can do the luxury trades you are suggesting. Interesting you cite Selwood and Swan for their form slumps but the same could be said of Priddis. Before his pair of 86's he scored 119, 102, 103 & 129 at an average of 113. This is certainly not in the Griffen & Beams territory but the gulf doesn't justify a trade at this late stage.

It's my humble opinion that you'd be better off shoring up all you weak links such as Hrovat to Murphy, Maric to Kreuzer / Minson or Clisby to a solid DPP.

With 6 rounds to go there will be plenty more injuries & suspensions, most people won't have many trades remaining (if any at all). Therefore it becomes a game of the best depth and the best flexibility. Furthermore, there will almost certainly be a couple more longterm injuries, wait for those and then upgrade to your Griffens and Dangerfields. It's simply too late in the game to be trading one fit premo to another slightly better premo.

I guess a lot depends on where you are sitting in your league too.

So your saying for only an extra $60-80k I'd be silly to jump off a bloke who before his 86 scores 119, 102, 103, 129 at an average of 113 to a bloke before his 76 scored 171, 101, 136, 176, 129, 143, 148, 107 at an average of 130, when people on here are out of trades and with worse teams than mine and my team is pretty much set with 5 trades and a bit of cash.

I understand there shall be enroads, but surely 2-3 trades over 4-5 weeks should be plenty?

Already have Goldy hahaha, and Maric is averaging near on 100? You're telling me to make an upgrade for less PPG potential? Maric to Minson/Kreuzer is more pointless than Priddis to Griffen, so I don't see where your going with your thoughts.

I have to completely disagree. You need to be getting in your best premo's at this time of he year bud, and setting yourself up for finals.

I'm honestly stuck now.

1st in three leagues and 4th and 5th in one. The one I'm 5th in is a Cash league and if I don't win every game including playing top of the table in the last round I won't make top 4 and my chances of winning are dismal.

And in the leagues I'm coming 1st I'm certain to stay there but in one there's a bloke right on my tail and we have very similar teams..

This is why I'm looking at Griffen, Murphy and Beams to gain an advantage as they are PODS that should go well.

Jesty

I'm with you, Only you know what the situation is and I think if you have come this far then go with your gut.

In my league which I sit 10th. ( league ranking is 230 something ). Last week 19th got 2251 and 17th got 2374 :o  1st is on 10 wins 9th is on 9 wins :o Me in 10th with 8 wins. Have to try anything to win my last 2. hahah this league is bullshower.
