And I know for a fact that Geography and Business Management got shafted by scaling last year :P

That's why i'm trying to go hard so scaling doesn't kill me.

Lat year i think Geogs was down 6% on the scaling and Business was down 3-4%...

Econs was even, English even and 3AB maths was up 5-7% i think.

So all in all. I can take about 10 marks off my projected TEA and that's my post scaling score. At Worst.

so anything over a 310 (300) means i get a 95 ATAR and i'd be happy.

Yep. I did Bus Man last year. Got 34 raw, scaled down to 31 for the study score. Pretty sure Vis Comm and Psych got scaled down heaps too, pretty sure my Vis Comm went down from like 30 to 24 or something. I was just like "Well... flower."

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's how it works nationwide. In fact, (I may be wrong on this) but I think if you get over a certain score, you can't get scaled down.

I guess what sucked for me was that every subject I chose got scaled down... English included (although it was compulsory).

its a bell curve, if you get right up the very top or right down the very bottom you dont move much.

ehhh, some subjects there's a cap. For instance, in extension 2 maths, even if you hypothetically get 0, you still get a mark of like 30-40 on the basis of the difficulty of the subject. Other subjects, like studies of religion 1, have a cap at the other end, so you can't actually get 100 in the subject, it gets maxed out at like 99 or something.

Doing year 12 this year too.

It's annoying because I'm constantly like, "I should do more homework" but then I'll go to bed at 12 and think "f*ck, I should've done less homework and just gone to bed", then the next day I'm tired as hell, can't concentrate and end up getting less work done. Woe is me! :P

Hoping for a mid 80's ATAR, so not under as much pressure as some others, but still.

actually, usyd does accept undergrad medicine

but it only offers 40 places and needs to be done as a double degree- you need an atar of 99.95 to be considered :P

Ah well there you go then. You'd be crazy to do a combined degree of medicine though, you wouldn't have time to study!
