EAGLE ALERT - Defender Beau Waters will miss the rest of season 2013 as he heads in for shoulder surgery - http://bit.ly/19cUel6

Uncompromising West Coast defender Beau Waters will have season-ending surgery in the next few days.

The 2012 All Australian half-back has missed the last few matches with a knee injury, but a shoulder problem has been identified as needing immediate attention, ruling him out for the rest of the year.

The news does not get any better, with midfielder Luke Shuey likely to miss the next three matches with a recurrence of the hamstring strain that sidelined him until Sundays game against Sydney.

Shuey felt tight in the same hamstring just before half-time against the Swans and sat out the last two quarters on the bench. Although a low-grade strain, the clubs medical staff will take no chances with the emerging midfielder and he could miss a further three weeks.

Rookie ruckman Callum Sinclair will also miss the rest of the year after having surgery on his right knee today. After a lay-off of several weeks, he hurt the knee playing for Subiaco a couple of weeks, damaging the meniscus.

On a brighter note, reigning club champion Scott Selwood is a good chance to play against the Western Bulldogs on Sunday. He has made strong progress from a broken thumb and with convincing training form this week, he will give the match committee something to ponder.

The undermanned midfield could do with another experienced body, particularly one as adept as Selwood in the clinches.

:(

Haven't had him at all myself but I like him. Very good player just troubled by injuries. Hope 2014 runs smoothly for him.

Good luck to him.

jeez hes had shocking luck with injuries throughout his career. glad i didnt pick him up this season

Such a shame for Beau. I picked him up last year just after the byes and he was an absolute gun. If he could keep healthy for a whole season he'd be one of the first picked defenders in most Supercoach teams

Yes, good luck Beau!

Hopefully they can rebuild him, and he comes back the footballer he can be....

On a personal note.. Enjoy the rest of your career on my never again list. I will never forget the smile on my face you gave me as I used my last trade on Saturday. Finally removing you from my team after you were my first upgrade of the season in round 6, trading you in 24 hours before you were a late withdrawal.

Your contribution of 289 points in 4 appearances will NEVER be forgotten ;)

Welcome to second place on my never again list.

Pity.

I assume Missy is the number one ticket holder Doc?

Bingo.

Although if Spuddy moves to West Sydney he may well leap to the top.
