Depends on whether the team bowling last is bowling for victory or not to a degree ... But still final sessions are usually the longest cos thats when all the overs lost in the first 2 sessions are also completed to meet a minimum over criteria

You're kidding yourself if you think England was any thing other than an outside chance ... It's a much tougher assignment than an odi, hence why it's literally never done ... In every other similar situation I've seen like this the team normally goes for it but inevitably loses a wicket or 3 and then blocks it out

Look at how we batted in the 3rd innings, looked much harder to whack it around then how it's looked for England

Englands were the favourites by a long shot. Had to score at like 5rpo for only 44 odd overs and just not lose 10 wickets. It's easy to avoid losing 10 wickets.

"similar situations"

You have to remember this is really a day 3/4 pitch and it's still beautiful for batting

This is in no way a day 5 pitch, 1 and a 1/2 days were lost due to rain. Pitches degrade from bowlers/batters running on it and the ball hitting it repeatedly. This is a beautiful batting deck and showing it.

We were trying to score at 10rpo they're not.

I guess I've just watched too much cricket to think about it like you do... Yes I'll grant you we were trying to score quicker but the pitch is still doing enough ... Guaranteed if we had got pietersen earlier this game would definitely be a comfortable draw

Nails

Yes I think about it objectively not subjectively.

You're thinking about a day 5 session 3 pitch not what is really a day 3/4 session 3/1 pitch.

Pitch has offered enough .... Our bowling just wasn't up to it plain and simple

just quickly @me do you even know who Nails is? he used to play cricket at senior state level. a number of blokes around the forum know this and can confirm. he knows his shower mate. was trying to stay out of it but couldn't help myself. he's a star ;)

cheers brad, don't like to toot my own horn though. I guess a 47 average in sheffield wasn't too bad by me though

Yeah that changes everything

To be fair umps should take them off for, light ... It's worse out there now then it was on other days when they've hauled them off

Lol what a run out.  .... Epic

England can't complain about light haha it's gone their way all series

Bill Manspeaker

yeah that's it, they can hardly complain.

imho though, there should be a common sense rule.

BUT if they have enforced the rule earlier, then they have to in this instance aswell

time for sleep. night fellas
