Is there Any news if supercoach will go ahead next year because there will 17 teams and one team will have a bye, have they worked a way round that yet?

Gumby

Why wouldn't Supercoach go ahead?

You'll just have to manage your team better... Eg. Not have a lot of players from one team.

RobsOverAchievers

hahah manage team better are you joking or??? if i have 3 st kilda players and they have a bye how do you propose i transfer them out with two trades ....Surely they Would extend the bench or up the number of trades or allow you to transfer players out from that team not costing you a trade?

They'll do temporary weekly trades or something I'd guess, like they do in other international comps. It'll survive!

RobsOverAchievers

thats true i guess , question had to be asked

Sams-Town

Maybe what they will do is take that players current average thus far into the season and award him that for his bye?

ossie85

Wouldn't work for the first few rounds

RobsOverAchievers

Unlimited trades of players out from the team that has a bye ?

This is what I think will happen, but the trades only last for a week.

I.e. St. Kilda has the bye, so you trade Nick Riewoldt for Ryan O'Keefe, but the next week they swap back.

RobsOverAchievers

yeah that could work but what about if values change

ossie85

Well, the players with the bye prices won't change, and it won't matter if ROK's price changes cos your back with Riewoldt anyway.

I.e. you only trade for a player of equal or less value. No trading for more expensive players

i do not think any of this will happen.

You will probably have to be very smart with each line of your team ( ie having 1 player in each spot from different teams accross 9 back positions ) to cover the bye.

Also the players dual positions and positional substituates new this year is probably what they are doing to assist with the bye so you don't have to trade. I think we will see more dual position players next year.

All in all the main word is MORE;
more time spent looking at players
more time selecting players for every position
more time picking dual position players
more headaches

I actually think it would be better if it was the way you described it CFC 1979, but I think the organisers would want to make it as simple as possible for the general public.

Especially for the round or rounds when there will be more than one team with a bye, that has nothing do with skill if 9 or 11 teams aren't available.

So for that round, you'd have to miss it completely (like Rounds 1-3), but that would mean some players have 1 bye, some have 2.....

Fair call Ossie85 ;)

If they want to make it simple for the public give me 30 million in my salary cap ::)

Oops - ah is that Visy calling about those box packing jobs i want for GAJ, Swanny + ROO  ;D

Any way it will be a challenge next year anyway :'(
