I'm happy to take Staker as cover (given recent form).
But Buddy better be back, because I'm NOT happy to take McCaffer as cover for him!!

Bartel has been great this year...reversed the trend of slipping averages.
SC ave
2013 106*
2012 99
2011 101
2010 102
2009 109
2008 116
2007 127

I was wrong about him and will go through the season without having him. Played every game until now as well so whilst bad news for his owners I'll quietly have a small "Yay for me" this week.

You and me both, was expecting that trend to continue, or at least plateau. I think your rational was sound, and I think I would make the same decision if presented with similar information in the future...

the factor for me was do I think gellong will bounce back from 6th in 2012. I rated them a top 4 team so picked up Bartel for that reason.

According to the MRP, each incident is reviewed by the Match Review Panel. Within the review, the Match Review Panel grades the severity of the incident in three factors, and awards activation points depending upon the severity.

The three factors are:
Conduct: the panel determines whether the player's actions were intentional (three activation points), reckless (two activation points), negligent (one activation point), or accidental/incidental (charge rejected).
Impact: the panel determined how hard the player hit another player. This can be graded as severe (four activation points), high (three activation points), medium (two activation points), low (one activation point), or negligible (charge rejected). The Match Review Panel can consider injury reports when assessing impact.
Contact: the panel determines whether contact was made to the head (two activation points), groin (two activation points) or body (one activation point).

and now according to the MRP review on Monday night
Jimmy Bartel
Quotehas been charged with a level two Bumping or Making Forceful Contact from Front-On Offence (250 demerit points, two-match sanction) for Making Forceful Contact from Front-On against Rory Laird, Adelaide Crows, during the second quarter of the Round 17 match between the Geelong  and the Adelaide Crows, played at AAMI Stadium on Sunday July 21, 2013.

In summary, he can accept a one-match sanction with an early plea.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Adelaide Crows Football Club, the incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), medium impact (two points) and high contact (two points). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a level two offence, drawing 250 demerit points and a two-match sanction. He has two matches suspended within the last two years, which do not impact on this offence. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 187.50 points and a one-match sanction.

High Contact does not exist. Its either head, groin or body. If its the body then is only 4 demerit points and a level 1 offence, if its head then its 5 demerit points and a level 2 offence. After looking at the footage, both players were going for the ball, hence the negligent conduct and Bartel ran into Laird's shoulder.

It's ridiculous tabs... I along with I assume everyone in this country has given up on the MRP.

Hopefully they review it in the off-season, I think I read somewhere that this was likely?
