Looking for a mid and forward this week and have a total of $900,100 to spend. First thought is Riewoldt (pretty much top forward) and Murphy (at his price looks very appealing).

My current mid and forward lines:
Ablett, Swan, Pendlebury, Barlow, Stanton, O'Keefe, Fyfe, T.Mitchell, ??? , McKenzie
Johnson, Martin, Bartel, Rockliff, Kennedy, ??? , Mayes, Staker

Any other combos out there?

I feel that you have fallen short money wise. Yes you must definitely get Nroo, he has been super this season. But that leaves you short to get a premium midfielder. Is it possible for you to do some form of downgrade this week to get a lil more cash to bring in some one better then Murphy next week?

Or if you went the other route you wouldn't be able to get a premium forward. I think you need that extra 50k-100k to make your team wicked for finals

Depends how many weeks you're giving yourself to finish the team. Your trades leave you w $90k, hopefully when TMitchell tops out that will be enough to upgrade to Beams in a few weeks.

Yeah. I wouldn't be trading in murphy. Downgrade this week so u can afford an elite premium midfielder.

I see where you're coming from but getting in a rookie gives him 2 rookies plus TMitchell. Murphy isn't going any further down in price and is gonna be M8 or bench cover. You can't get NRoo and a Premo mid in this week so why not wait and use the 90k left over to upgrade Mitchell/Murphy in 2 weeks?

I don't see whats so wrong with Murphy  :P He should score decently and go up past 400k and I could do a downgrade of McKenzie next week (probably Grigg) and have enough cash to upgrade Fyfe/Murphy/Mitchell when or if I have to

Here's what's wrong with Murph. Has scored under 80 in 5 of his last 8 (excluding game he got injured) games. Has not collected more than 20 possies in his last 3 games. I'm not so sure he can get back up to $400,000 if you are purely trading him in for cash grab.

Fair enough. Take out his injury 24 and he's avg 78 for his last 6.

He's only going to be bench cover in this team and short term so OP can get Riewoldt in anyway.

Guys a proven performer, BE of 60ish and even including his poor run and 24 is still averaging 86.

If he was gonna be in your first 4-6 mids then obv no way. But you're saying get a rookie instead. Who do you suggest that's cheap still with good JS and will average at absolute worst 70+ over the rest of the year? Not to mention he plays GC, WB in the next 2 weeks?

Why don't you look long term and try to make Titchell your M9. My last midfield upgrade was Jack after I traded Titchell in as i was unsure if I would be happy with starting Titchell long term. Titchell has been good bench cover for late withdrawels for me (Ablett and S. Mitchell). There are still some good options that have averaged more than Titchell (Griffen, Montagna, Jack, Selwood and even Cotchin looks to have turned his form around).
Players on the bubble that played last round are
MID Carter (wce)
RUC Hall (GC)
more expensive options
FWD O'brien (Ess)
DEF Whiley (GWS)
Who is the midfielder you are thinking of trading out anyways?

Adamant

Murphy is a great option at his price Lozza and NRoo is an asbolute gun, so consistent. I can't pass up a guy that has averaged 111 before at a ridiculous 337k - that's like a 60ish average. :o

Can't go wrong. 8)

I did, and I agree that he hasn't been in the greatest of form. But in my situation, Murphy will be M8 and Titch M9.

Worst case scenario, Murph spuds up this week against the Suns. I simply downgrade Gorringe to an 89k ruck next week and upgrade Titch to Beams or whichever premo mid is looking the best. Murphy then becomes my M9.

Hardly any risk involved IMO.

One point on Carter is that Beau is out for the season now. He has been playing on the small forwards and gets some possession when the possession is switched. Now he isn't the option for cash generation, but rather the cash you will receive from your downgrade. I'm predicting for him to play out the rest of the year.

Having plans for future trades is good but you can't plan injury and late withdrawals so there is some risk involved

I think I understand what you are trying to say is that carter won't make you money because you plan to keep him for the rest of the year. I have traded players before they have peaked as I have downgraded to a player on the bubble where their first price rise is usually the biggest.
