Hello friends, it's time to announce the best and fairest for the Liverpool Rams in 2017. The award is otherwise known as the monstrum medal after the founding coach of Liverpool.

Before we get to announcing the winner of the medal for 2017, there are a few other highly coveted awards that get distributed here at Liverpool.

The Leader of the Flock award is presented to the best individual performance of the year.
The Lord of Liverpool award is the coaches award to player the coach feels is worthy of recognition.
The Golden Potato award is handed out to the biggest underachiever as a thanks for nothing.

The Leader of the Flock for 2017 is awarded to Dayne Beams after an amazing effort in Round 9 where Liverpool beat Swansea.

The Lord of Liverpool for 2017 is awarded to Ben Brown for stepping up and showing he's the future of Liverpool's forward line.

The Golden Potato for 2017 is awarded to Josh Gibson who was underwhelming before injury struck in what could be his final year.

The winner of the monstrum medal for 2017 is:

Adam Treloar!

The final leaderboard:

Congratulations Adam Treloar

Should note that Treloar's win this season means he's now gone back-to-back and joins Dyson Heppell in the club of players to do so at Liverpool.

2013: Dyson Heppell
2014: Dyson Heppell
2015: Todd Goldstein
2016: Adam Treloar

Trade News

Liverpool has kicked off 2017 BXVs trade period with serious intent as the club has completed 3 trades in the first 48 hours. It is believed the club undertook a serious review of the shortcomings of 2017 and decided to be aggressive and bold in their actions moving forward. A serious weakness and issue the club faced in 2017 was a lack of midfield depth, at one point having to player two players out of position which was not ideal and ultimately embarrassing and costly.

The first trade made by the club was a smaller trade. Having identified an excess of forwards, James Stewart and Josh Begley were traded to Staines in return for good young mid Jack Bowes and resilient defender Nick Robertson. Coach Nige is said to be quite happy with getting two promising youngsters in the positions in which Liverpool has been lacking.

The second trade was a big three way trade with Wrexham and Bradford which saw dual monstrum medallist Dyson Heppell leave the club for Bradford and Alex Fasolo also heading out, but the Wrexham. In return, the Rams received the services two consistent  midfielders, Dion Prestia and Mark Blicavs. Coach Nige believes that these two have the quality of Heppell and essentially getting two midfielders for one will help address the aforementioned mid shortage.

The third trade made by Liverpool was a somewhat controversial move which saw the best and fairest winner of 2016 and 2017 Adam Treloar depart the club for rival Grope Lane. Adam was an outstanding servant of Liverpool and the decision to let him go was difficult, but two fine midfielders in Jarryd Lyons and Hugh Greenwood, both extremely capable of producing performances much like Treloar, have come to the club. Again, Nige is sure that the club has not sacrificed quality in favour of quantity stating that he rather the mids play as utilities and not forwards as was the case in 2017.

Coach Nige is said to be extremely happy with the moves this summer and gone on to declare Dayne Beams as club captain ahead of 2018. It is unknown at the time whether the club will continue to be active in the trade period but insiders and industry sources suggest the club is in the market for a starting defender. At the stage, it's believed the club is taking picks 5, 19 and 24 to the draft but are willing to move any of them in an appropriate deal.

Stay tuned for the next edition of Trade News!
