I've currently got selwood and he's coming up against Adelaide this week. Adelaide are leaking a lot of points lately to midfielders so I was thinking that selwood will dominate however with Stevie j out there is probably no one else to tag apart from selwood especially with bartel in defence. After seeing what he did to swan in the second half last week it's got me a bit worried. It would be more of a luxury trade than anything but its something that needs to be looked at. It would mean that I would not get to go ellis to grimes which I would like to do with ellis coming up against freo and sydney in the next two. And selwood is coming off two 120's which a lot of people probably think is good but he is very inconsistent so he could go low anytime soon.

I agree with this. In the exact same scenario atm (Lids -> Jelwood).

Looks to be the right trade, but VB could tag him out of the game as well :/

last week:
tagged Pendles in the first half (kept to 59) and then moved to Swan for the 2nd half (scored 33)
so effectively tagged a player to 92
not a great score, but still pretty good

won't be as bad as the Crowley tag Jelwood got

It's an interesting prospect. If van Berlo doesn't go to him he should dominate but if he does he might struggle. I'm not sure if e has tagged him in the past. Interesting to note that say a James Kelly would be a really good option this week

I think he'll go to JS, Bartell could have a biggie!

Too hard a game for me to call, risky!

Ricochet

Last year VB went to Bartel and also Kelly earlier in the year

with bartel in defence i wouldnt have tought he would go to bartel although with johnson out maybe bartel has to play more midfield time.

Bartel named on the ball. It's a tough one.

Can't read too much into that though... Thanks heaps for starting this thread, I was thinking of trading in Jelwood this week but am reconsidering right now! A key thing that got me interested is yes, Adelaide conceding bulk midfield points against Collingwood and West Coast, and Dangerfield being out just making them impotent and without any real hope of winning the game. The only real con against Selwood is the certain van Berlo tag - maybe he was moved off Pendlebury because Pendles got the better of him? (see below) Or maybe Adelaide frees up van Berlo with Dangerfield out? Not many standout options from the midfielders I don't have otherwise, so it likely would be a luxury trade for you but definitely worth considering.

Good breakdown, but the conclusion is not saying much nor giving anyone confidence in Jelwood :P

Premo mids at this point of the year need to be scoring 105+ at this point of the year, not 92. He's not so much susceptible to a tag as that he adjusts his game accordingly and that hurts his scoring.

Or maybe Swan only scored 33 because the game was in the bag and we're worrying about nothing...

The way I see it could go two ways:
Vanberlo tags selwood and I reckon selwood will struggle and probably only score 75.

Or..... Vanberlo tags bartel, someone else or doesn't tag at all allowing selwood to run free and will rack up 110+

The other option is that maybe they send Vince to selwood who I wouldn't have though would do such a good job but still,

But when you think about it I can't see any reason why they wouldn't send vb to Joel. Don't know why they sent him to bartel last season.

caddy anyone? good bridging trade and has scored well recently? i am worried though, as corey and stokes are back even though stevie j is out.

will he get lots of mid time this week like he has recently being used as a tagger. named on the bench. sub risk?

No one to tag this week with Dangerfield out, I'm bringing in Caddy instead of Jelwood for a locked in price rise.

yeah but i will have to field him or hutchings?

Your saying vanberlo is going fill the danger role?

Nah just that the Crows might decide not to tag seeing as Danger is out. They need all the attack from their midfield as they can get now! But my money is still on Jelwood being tagged, really he's an obvious target in an otherwise balanced Geelong midfield.
