I have the luxury of trading out Hartlett and Deledio this week, but stuck on who to trade them to.

Bringing in Ibbotson is what I'm currently looking at, in that I see him as a must have defender and that it will match an opponent in my main league as well.

Luke Ball is also tempting in that he has a good run ahead and he will eventually become Beams anyway. Can just afford him as well, if I bring in Ibbotson.

Current Team (Bank: 83,100):

Def: Goddard, Heppell, Gibbs, Hanley, Hartlett, T. McKenzie, Clisby, Saunders

Mid: Swan, Pendlebury, Ablett, K. Jack, Barlow, Stanton, Swallow, Deledio, T. Mitchell, Hrovat

Rucks and Fwd's are set for now (Have cover for Stevie J).

Thoughts? (Will cheer).

I'd be going Hartlett to Grimes and Deledio to Jelwood.

I honestly think Grimes will be a top 6 defender from here on in, and at his price, most people should be looking to bring him in. Still don't trust Ibbo and would prefer Duffield to him for around 55k less if you want to cash in on Freo's easy draw.

Definitely the right outs, just a question of who you should be bringing in.

Grimes is the risky option, but at ~$80k less than ibbotson, I think he's the right defender to bring in. In which case you should have your pick of the mids, right? Maybe ROK or Jelwood or Mundy is also a good option...

Cheers mate.

Was leaning that way, but thought I'd look outside the box a bit. Some decent different options.

What are your thoughts on Mundy and Luke Ball?

Mundy could be a great POD with a great finals draw (League > Overall for me), whilst Ball would only be there for a few weeks anyway (Easy draw ahead).

Pretty much yeah. I want to go Grimes, but keen to match my opponent with Ibbo this week. By doing so, I should snag a win this week an jump into 4th spot. Would be higher, but my captain choices lately have cost me some close match ups.

Probably going to pass on ROK, but definitely looking at Jelwood or Mundy. Jelwood has been good, but I've never trusted him enough to bring him in (Consistency being the key thing with me). I like the looks of Mundy but. Would be a decent POD.

Yeah, I like Mundy as a unique. Was very keen on starting with him during the pre-season, and slightly disappointed I didn't tbh. He's in super form and should finish the season on fire like last year, especially with Freo's easy draw.

Not really sure about Ball, but he's usually pretty consistent. I'd say there are better options...

I just like Jelwood as he's a proven scorer and has gone 120+ in 4/5 games since his bye. But you can't really go wrong with either him or Mundy.

Have given it some thought and have so far gone with this:

Hartlett -> Grimes, Deledio -> Jelwood.

I like Luke Ball's run ahead but and I only needed him for two matches until Beams came in. I guess Jelwood can hold that spot and make more cash until then anyway.

Mundy I'll consider when it comes to the finals I guess :)

Keep Ball for a couple more weeks, has 2 easy games

I wouldn't discount Ibbo too quickly though. Averaging 97 with GWS, Melbourne, Port, Saints to finish off the year

Jigsaw

Cheers for all the advice peeps.

So far I've locked in Hartlett -> Grimes, with a view of bringing in Ibbo later on when he's cheaper.

Stuck on Ball or Jelwood still but. The sole reason being the heavy tag that Jelwood faces over his next few games, where as Ball should be solid for his next two.

Either one would more than likely make way for Beams later anyway and whilst Jelwood would probably make me the most cash in the short term, I'm looking at points more.

remember how people said Birchall was going to score well with an 'easy draw' of GWS, GC, Dees in straight weeks
remind me how that ended up?

He copped a tag and couldn't handle it. That won't happen to Ibbo since he's one of the last players to tag in Freo.

With Duff back Ibbo can easily string back some form. When playing along duffy he was averagin 102 (9 games), but with him out only 77.5 (2 games)

If your keen on bringing in Jelwood and can afford to bring in Ibbo, then thats what I would be doing.

Ibbo actually scores best against easy teams and isn't as damaging as Birchall so doesn't cop as much attention.
