I'm speechless at the moment regarding this verdict.

Jordan Lewis gets a reprimand but Kornes gets a week.

I'm so disgusted I'm pulling the pin on following football any more. The MRP is so utterly disgraceful I'm lost for words.

Absolutely shocking and disgusting, MRP has hit a new low.

'The incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). The total of five activation points resulted in a level two offence, drawing 225 demerit points and a two-match suspension.

His good record reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to 168.75 points and a one-match ban.'

It was behind play, those assertions are definitely accurate, just can't just randomly smack someone in the back and onto the ground.

He should have just accepted the one match. What was the case port tried to make? Like it was definitely intentional, and the impact/ contact are both low grade.

that being said, an initiate 225 demerit points was excessive. At most that should have been one match.

Dont bother ziplock, people dont understand how the system works they just sook about it without even understanding how its graded etc.
The MRP can be a up and down but they got this spot on. There was nothing to argue

I personally think the grading system needs to be changed, not going to lie, and I think that was an example of why- he should have gotten a week initially (before the early plea), not 2. It was a dog act, but it wasn't really overly dangerous or harmful.

They're trying to encourage players to play a sport that depends on physicality, but to remove dog acts and increase sportmanship, I've got no issue with that. I don't really see how you can believe that knocking a player to the ground from behind when they're not going for the ball, in a contest or have the ball should be part of the game and go unpunished :S

Completely agree. The system is floored and doesnt take common sense into account but it is what it is and i can understand people that get annoyed because of things being graded certain ways but I cant stand when people bag decisions that are graded as they should be. Thats the system. They got all of the gradings spot on on this one which equalled 225 points, early plea brings it to 168.75. Done and dusted, nothing to argue.
You can however argue that the system is harsh and generalised. I prefer people to just call it as they see it. Piss the points off all together

Well there should be 10 reports in each and every game, if that's the case. The MRP is an abosolute joke, their next gig should be in the comedy company.

I think he still only gets 1 because of his good record... Might be wrong though?

most of the time something like this happens in a marking contest, or someone slips over or something.

cornes launched himself at mitchell with the intent of dropping him behind play.  It was a dog act, it was definitely unnecessary rough conduct, it was definitely intentional, it was body contact and low impact.

He hasn't been treated unfairly in this, the grading is spot on- there's set guidlines they have to follow, and they followed them.

Once again though, the actual grading system is pretty shower and needs to be changed. 2 initial weeks was definitely too high of a penalty.

Ziplock and TeeJay - delusional... well nothing new there I guess.

Mitchell milked this so bad it wasn't funny. Dog act? Please. So Lewis jabbing Wingard in the gut? Rough Conduct? Dog act? Yes.

Lewis' record speaks for itself. Kornes has never been reported. It is this consistency that they need to get right. And at the moment they cannot get it right to save themselves. If I did my job as badly as they did, I'd get the sack. Read the transcript of the tribunal hearing, it's ridiculous. Kornes merely checked him and Mitchell flopped. Funny that was the only thing they picked up when Mitchell carried out multiple hits on Cornes behind play but none of that was picked up.

Ziplock

that's one of the inconsistencies- striking is graded separately to rough conduct, for instance, taylor adams striking incident on cooney only got him a week- I would have preferred to give him like 4.... he just randomly turns around and punches cooney in the face, I'm still bemused as to why that's only one week.

the MRP system is flawed, only an idiot would dispute that. The call for cornes was right though- whether or not other people were penalised for it is irrelevant.

It's like locking someone away for 20 years because they committed murder, and they use the defence
-but heaps of people do it, and you never pin them!

yeah, maybe they're pinning you and not other people for some reason or another, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't be punished.

McRooster

Kane was convicted on the dangerous precipice of those who have performed the act before him. Kane the player was not guilty, it was Kane the player represented by a thousand other Stanton/Wanganeen/Ballantyne/Selwood/Mitchell type soccer style dives that hanged him.

Bemusing that the challenge was overturned considering the obvious precedence.
