Itchy trade trigger fingers! Need expert opinions on this team!

Hi all,

I can't decide what to do with this team. My concerns are:
- Nic Nat: just not playing well or scoring well
- Maric: a continual disappointment
- Hartlett: never EVER again
- Cox: is he slowing down, and will he be rested?
- Spuddy: enough said

On top of this, I still need to finish my midfield.

With 7 trades and $28,200, what would you do? I'm going for league win (currently in 4th place in cash league)

Def: Goddard, Hanley, Gibbs, Hartlett, Ellis, Duffield (Goodes, Clisby)
Mid: GAJ, Swan, Pendles, JPK, Cotchin, Mundy, Priddis, T Mitchell (Crouch, Kmart)
Ruc: Cox, Maric (Nichols, Rowe)
Fwd: Stevie J, Nic Nat, Bartel, Walker, Dusty, Buddy (Staker, Lee)

What would you do with this team? Thoughts?! Much appreciated!

I'd hold for the moment and reassess in a week or two. You need cash to fix your problems, but your cashcows still have very low BEs. With 7 trades I'd be looking at two cashcows to downgrade for maximum $$, look at DPP flexibility with these. This should give you enough cash to upgrade TM and make two corrections. It leaves you with 2 injury trades, skinny, but you should have good cover.

I'd spend the until 6:25 pm Thursday running through various scenarios depending upon selections.

It is quite likely that at least one of Buddy, NicNat, Cox, Bartel, Duffield, SJ ( :P) will miss.

If NicNat or Buddy miss, you'll be tempted to trade out by reading between your lines. Who do you want in their stead is worth considering.
If NicNat goes -> ? Goldstein? Minson?

If Buddy misses, then you could still get a top ruck by swinging your big Cox forward.

Crouch / KMart to Barlow or Griff when $$$ level out in a few weeks' time too.

Ellis / Hartlett to Shaw is also a possibility at some stage.

7 trades is your strong suit.

Similar ish position to you BBB, 4th in cash league, similar problem players, 7 trades but slightly more cash (80k, hah!).

I think you have to sit on most of them for now, unless you have a realistic chance of taking top spot (priority 1: make the 8. Priority 2: take 1st or 2nd for easier finals run).

Your biggest worries are probably Harltett and Maric (Terlich and Sauce for me). In your position I think you have to cop Hartlett, I don't have Hanley so Terlich to Hanley is looking too good to pass up. The defensive option would be Shaw for you I think.
Maric you don't have many good choices, I would be tempted to offload him for a rookie and play Nicholls for a couple of weeks. Bank the cash to later upgrade for a final mid, and then possibly upgrade Nicholls or maybe need another downgrade. Should leave you 4 trades, and will be my strategy. I'll have 1 less trade (c/o Terlich to Hanley). You could offload Maric and do Hartlett to Shaw and then be in similar scenario, but I don't think it's crucial

Cox, NicNat and Buddy can be luxury/necessity trades during finals as the come. Depends on your upcoming match ups and how spread they are in your league. Most of the guys in my league have 2 of them...

This is very true.

Though I have to say I think Cox/NicNat out you can hold them if Rowe gets another game.  SJ is more than likely out (I don't see them challenging the MRP). If Buddy stays out you could be in trouble. NicNat can swap with Rowe, Cox with Nicholls (Means you have to keep Maric). A lot hinges on your prospective opponent and who lines up.

All the above are sound, what you are looking for is a solution that you haven't already come up with, and there probably isn't one. I'm down to 3 trades and have stuck myself with Zork, Rock, Staker and Hanley. Probably doesn't sound too bad at first, but Bris v Cats at Cattery rd. 23. You will trade out some of the players you mentioned but before you do have a really good look at their reverse  ( rd.23 backwards )  draws and go for the players who score best against those opponents, wish I had. Rd. 23 is the one you gotta win. Played SC in 15 leagues so far for 6th and 14 2nds, must be bloody due, the very best of luck and sorry I couldn't be more help. :)

They are ALL premiums plus u have very good back up in all 3 positions.

With just 7 trades, I would hold a couple for a midfield upgrade so u have good back up there as well in mitchell.

Then u have 5 for finals and can reassess then.

I notice your own poll and plans to trade Nic Nat, you wouldn't grab Rocky now given his low BE and Nicnats high BE?
