Goddard, Hibberd, Shaw, Hanley, Gibbs, Vlastuin (Clisby, Docherty)
Ablett, Swan, Pendlebury, Jack, Cotchin, Swallow, Dangerfield, T Mitchell (Hrovat, Saunders)
Minson, Goldstein (Nicholls, Moller)
Cox, Naitanui, Kennedy, Franklin, S Johnson, Stokes (Staker, Daniher)

This is my team atm with 4 trades left and 37.600 K left. The only player I want to get rid off before the end of the year is vlastuin and maybe mitchell. Vlas is bleeding cash atm and since I couldn't get rid off him last week, I have to get trade him out before he goes -300K.

I was thinking I would trade Docherty -> B Richmond (Def/FWD) to get some cash and establish a fwd link with staker. This could also help me trade vlastuin to waters or Grimes which I preffer over the other defenders. I know they aren't the most durable defenders but they are definitely premiums if they stay injury free.

What are your thoughts? Good idea, do something else or leave it as it is?

With just 4 trades left I would advise you to just hold. Hopefully Vlastuin will come good for you. There aren't any decent defenders available for a straight swap with Vlas and using two trades to get a decent defender is not viable becuase it will leave you with just 2 trades.

You will need more than 2 trades at this stage of the season if you want to do well come SC finals time.

i do agree that you are leaving it tight with so few trades, but at the same time i dont think holding onto Vlastuin is a good idea.
personally i'd go hard out and do those trades.

but after that i'd just hold on, 2 trades, sure isnt enough for finals, but your team would be set up enough by then to not worry.

good luck.

I see no problem in the downgrade of Docherty to free up cash but I'd suggest trade to Oxley, as he's played the two games, so he is more than likely to get a game, even though it is a slim chance, he has a better chance than B Richmond does.

Gives you about $120k to play with. I'd then hold and wait for Duffield to come back, and when he's fit and firing (Vlas will bleed cash) but I wouldn't expect him to go sub $300k, you then trade. Duff has a great finals fixture and won't miss a game, seeing as he'll miss a few now through injury. Leaves you with two trades prior to finals.

2 trades and no cash. Then you can trade to good scoring premiums in form or use them for LTI's.
Hold with three trades until Duff is back though and make sure hes fit and firing before pulling the trigger to finish your team, as he's a better choice than Waters or Grimes. Hope this helps mate.

I would definitely hold for now mate !

Once Nicholls is maxed out at 400k+ downgrade him to a cheapie. McBean etc.

Leaves you with plenty of cash come finals to upgrade Vlas.

You will still have cash left and two trades to deal with LTI's and Luxuries to the best premiums possible.

Good luck ! :)

by then the way Vlastuin is going he'll drop seriously close to $300K.
so you've made $60K with Nicholls and lost $60K with vlastuin and still gained no extra points.

if he trades now and cuts his losses, he'll make extra points.

but hey, thats just how i see it.

Fair enough ! How about this ?

Instead of upgrading Vlas later upgrade Hrovat to a premo defender and move Vlas to your midfield bench for cover.

great idea! but I think hrovat has more JS after his peformance on saturday and the way vlas is playing, he isnt good bench cover and may find himself struggling for games soon.

Try not to bust a rib laughing but just before rd. 15  I traded Vlastuin out and brought in Jack Watts. Gets the Staker/Watts DPP, made 16k and Watts has an average of 107 v Bulldogs who he plays in rd.23 the SC Grand Final. Cheaper bench cover than Vlast, who's price is due for a big slide, and appears to be making a real effort with Craig doing the coaching. Best of luck.

What about Michael Talia? Has played every game since week 10 and scored 69, 94, 90, 77, 129 (average 91.8). Has been getting a lot of it with 23 disposals and I know he was pretty highly regarded going into the draft.

Just had a quick look at what you could afford below $400k, and he might be the best chance to provide good scores. Burgoyne is also within your price range.

Otherwise I like the idea of rotating Staker back to DEF, as you planned with the DEF/FWD (Oxley or whoever).

I think its come to the stage of the season which I cant afford to take risks like talia and watts even though they are in good form. Havent proven themselves enough yet and I'd rather a premium like ibbotson or enright. But I like the idea, cheers anyway.
