Originally planned to keep Goodes as D6. Then he got injured, and was a likely out this week so traded him for Hanley pending teams, forcing me to keep Terlich as D6 til finals, or potentially permanently if injuries hit me hard elsewhere

Now Goodes is in. Which one should I trade to Hanley, and which should I keep?

Backline: Goddard Gibbs Heppell McKenzie [Hanley] Terlich/Goodes - Staker, Brown

I've kept them both and will probably swap them both between D6 and D7 as all the other def prem's are so up and down its rediculous. Goodes seems to get plenty of ball off HB and scores pretty consistently, and Terlich is almost Melbournes best player  :o is literally everywhere for them! Based on that i'd probably go Terlich over Goodes but both are good options imo :)

Maybe you could play Goodes and Terlich this week and wait for one more price increase for Staker and then trade him out for Hanley next week? Hanley is set to drop another 12k this week and Staker is set to rise 27k. Do you have enough cash in the bank to do that?

Then you can have either Goodes or Terlich as D6 and the other as bench cover for the rest of the year.

I'm in the same delemma, Goodes was gone until named, now not so sure? Mature aged, should play out the season now, but was dropping off a bit before his injury. Terlich is firing, but can he keep it up? Think I'm going to stick with Terlich. When I reverse trades it always seems to bite me on the arse!

appreciate all your advice fellas. in response to the above I have a crucial league game this week and opponent has Hanley so I want him this week!

Gah... I have the same decision to make and consulted this thread for advice, and it's a bloody tie! Maybe I will just flip a coin.

Heads - Terlich
Tails - Goodes

Tell me who wins ;D

Tough call. I have Terlich, Goodes and Vlaustin. Had planned to trade Vlaustin. But thinking Terlich even though can make more cash might have to go for Ibbotson. Vlaustin will lose cash but apart from his first and last games he is averaging close to 96. Think for his first game he was sub and his last game he was sore/injured. Terlich however only averaging 77. Goodes looks to be fairly consistent.

In all serious mate -

I would trade Terlich.

His been very good for you but Goodes has consistency at a higher scoring level.

Goodes - Avg.88
Terlich - Avg.77

Terlich has been more consistent lately but I reckon at the end of the year - Goodes will have averaged higher.

Hope that helped :)

Technically, seasons average shouldnt be what this decision is about, as Goodes is already like 11 higher than Terlich. The more important number is who's going to average higher from now to finals, and i think, as the poll has suggested, its a toss of a coin. Both look quality but Terlich is more likely to burn out than Goodes!

that definitely helps mate, and ended up swaying me yesterday, along with the fact that Goodes has GWS this week whilst Terlich has the swans. Melbourne have a few other toughies too.

I know the average for the rest of the season is more important but if Goodes he's fit he's probably more consistent, which is what you need come finals time.

Couldn't decide what to do so just kept Goodes on the field - reckoned I could see how he went this week and make a call next week, or just ditch Terlich tomorrow. Goodes smashed it! Hope he stays healthy - averaging about 90 and definitely seems like a solid D6.

Revisiting this topic - couldn't decide which one to upgrade so hung onto both. Can't say I'm any closer to a decision!

Goodes:
Last 3 matches: 87.3
Last 5 matches: 88.8
Last 8 matches: 87.0
Season average: 90.2
Disposals per game: 20.5
Marks per game: 5.5

Terlich:
Last 3 matches: 104.7
Last 5 matches: 94.4
Last 8 matches: 94.4
Season average: 80.8
Disposals per game: 20.5
Marks per game: 4.8

No easy answer! Terlich seems in slightly better form, but he's much less consistent - he's had scores of 56, 62, 62, 77, 39, 65 and 70 - although only two of those were since his "break out." Goodes has been at or above 85 in all but 3 of 11 matches. Both have mature bodies and are playing their first season of senior footy. Murphy is probably more likely to cop the forward tag than Goodes; maybe nobody bothers tagging Melbourne because they're so bad (plus Grimes and Garland are pretty good).

Maybe the best move is to just ride them while they're scoring well and then dump the first one that gets hurt or falters?
