I can’t help but notice New Delhi might just be running out of the stamina that saw 150+ scores a regular feature. Assuming they will in Round 9, the Tigers will have only done so once in the past 5 weeks; allowing teams such as Pacific, Rio and even Berlin to surpass their scoring output. Have the Tigers peaked too early? Are they concerned with Robbie Gray’s hot and cold nature? You’ll also notice that the number of their 100+ averaging players have now reduced to three. Interesting. Meanwhile, the Royals would like that problem at the moment. The late withdrawal of Luke Shuey against the Reindeers last week cost them the match in the end in an embarrassing score-line for both teams. They just need to return to that early season mindset that they can upset their opponents on any given week; just look at Moscow! But I’ll have back the Tigers.

Over the last three weeks, Toronto have been the 5th highest scoring team of the competition! To me, that’s kinda like saying Melbourne are the 5th best team in the competition... I’m both looking for tell-tale signs that I’m dreaming, but am gosh darn excited until proven otherwise. Personally, I’m thrilled at how Toronto has turned things around and I would find it fitting if they were to topple the team most famous for their turnaround in the Tigers this week. Just think, the coaches that steered the team that won the 2015 spoon just guided EurAsia to victory last week. However, New Delhi isn’t nearly as scary as they were early this season and tbh, if Dublin fire again and the Tigers either lose or don’t fire themselves... I’d have no choice but to change my premiership favouritism to the Destroyers. Six games have gone by since New Delhi last scored 150+ and I think it’s time we all got a reminder of the Tigers’ premiership credentials. New Delhi to win and go 160+.

Tigers Tough out Toronto

Wow! Easily the match of the round, but more frustration out of Toronto as they yet again lose as one of the highest scoring teams of the week, only this time accounting for 16 teams... except for New Delhi. But I did say New Delhi were due, didn't I? But wow, some huge praise for both camps in this match.

Well, that week sure did go wrong for the Sands. Captain Beams going down with injury is a HUGE blow for this team that faces every team in the top for in the next month... wow. How did the fixture work out like that? Damn. All of a sudden, the absence of a key piece in the Sands arsenal will probably mean Cairo goes into each match as the underdogs and, if they go down in each match, they may not actually make finals let alone the top 4. Losing against the Saints last week just hurts that little bit more.  But really, the Sands might only need one more win this year to make the finals, let's just hope we don't have to wait until their Round 17 encounter against the hot-n-cold PNL to find out. The Tigers reclaimed their #1 points ladder throne with big (and surprisingly necessary) score against a fired up Toronto last week - proof that teams are looking to get themselves up against the premiership fancies - a title that I can now safely say is secure again over at India. Still, despite the possibility that the Sands won't play finals, it's likely that they will and beating those teams now is a nice advantage to have later. New Delhi for me.

The Cobras are officially back! With three 130+ scores in the past month netting 3 wins, Cape Town has re-entered the land of relevancy and pose a concern to whomever they come up against. Last weeks' score of 141 was their second 140+ score for the year, and we can attribute that to the return to form of the Cobras much maligned midfield (and kudos to Ainsworth bringing home a rising star nom!). The Tigers performed as necessary to account for the injury-struck Sands and would have still trumped the Cobras by 2 SC points last week. The premiership fancies will pretty much go into every one of their matches as favourites; maybe except if they faced Dublin or Seoul as the away team, but they won't have to worry about that as they are sitting pretty 2 games and percentage clear on top of the ladder. With 4 games to go, they only really need to win two more games to win the minor premiership; but be warned, the minor premiers have a 0-5 record when it comes to premierships. Will they be the first to buck the trend? Time will tell. In the mean time, the Tigers to win this one.

The new guys vs the old firm. The Tigers continued their standing as the premiership fancy's with another 150+ score, and another win will basically win them the minor premiership. They're just expected to make the top 4 now and really, you could argue they've replaced Mexico City with that reputation. The Suns were finally looking like dropping back from a 5 year high, but when they blast out 150+ scores like last week, then all of a sudden they go from write-offs to finals dark horses. I'd kinda like to see the Suns teach the new guys a thing or two, I just don't think it'll happen. New Delhi for me.

Low but he plays for a 2 time premiership team, so its harder to win a best and Fairest at my club.

Low because you have depth, or low because he's pie...

I'm thinking the latter

Mainly because Hawkins looks like he enjoys a pie or two

The Tigers notched an important win for their reputation last week; beating the setting Suns and champions of the Worlds to takeover an important mantle, whatever that is. It'd take a minor miracle for New Delhi to lose the minor premiership from here, but they deserve to win it anyway. They have been the best of the comp, so really all we can scrutinise now is their recent form. Yep, even that's been good. But, 3 other teams have been better. They definitely don't have the same 'unbeatable' aura about them that Dublin had in 2015, but does that in itself relieve pressure? Maybe. But they have a danger game on their hands here, with the Reindeers desperate to make finals on the back of some inspired form. They cannot afford to lose another match so from now on, it's do or die for them and with a beatable Cairo waiting for them in Round 17, I'll believe they'll make it if they win this match. But I don't believe they'll win this match. New Delhi for me.

The Tigers - our minor premiers - have been the dominant team of the Home & Away season to see their #1 points ranking rightfully book themselves a home qualifying final. Where this time last year they needed to make one last push to make finals, they have set themselves up for success and have established the mental advantage on all but New York (TBC), Dublin and Moscow. However, they're about to learn that their H&A achievements will become irrelevant in one weeks' time and that WXVs is basically determined by the roll of a dice in the final 4 weeks of August. Their opponents, New York, won't mind this fact, given they've had a fortunate but well managed run to finals where they are still yet to win the respect of a few of the big boys. I for one simply can't ignore the Revolutions' past two performances; evidence that they have timed their season to perfection and are ready to peak at the time of the year where it matters most. But gee, they need Tippett to come back. This week is almost all about wanting Sam Naismith to have a poor game. Congratulations to both on dominant H&A seasons, and I look forward to seeing you both back next week! New Delhi for me.

New Delhi, Familiar Sensation

Quote from: Purple 77 on July 30, 2017, 10:15:25 PM
This team is ready to take the premiership, notching up the highest score of the round! They truly were the best team of the H&A season, and fully deserve the minor premiership. Whereas the Revolution, having held on the a top 4 spot for so long may have slipped out at the last hurdle. A really bad performance, but we know what they can deliver going into finals. Both deserving teams to be playing next week.

Dublin soo good ill likely win the NDT B & F
Where did Kieren Jack Tom Hawkins finish in the Dublin BnF?

Low but he plays for a 2 time premiership team, so its harder to win a best and Fairest at my club.

My best and Fairest played 22 games and averaged 120.
Lowe because you have depth, or low because he's pie...

I'm thinking the latter

Mainly because Hawkins looks like he enjoys a pie or two

he was the 23rd best forward in the comp. That makes him a great F2. He also put up 111 99 in his 2 finals games he played for me. Pretty great actually.

A year younger then Murphy too.
