Yeah. Look, I liked it when I wasn’t intimidated by New Delhi, back in the day. They unsettle me now, given they just cracked back-to-back 160+ scores. Taking down Rio & Pacific in the process are great scalps and their draw opens up a little from now on, but they’ll have to handle the tag of favourites; something they probably haven’t experienced much until now. Buenos Aires will need to call on its 3 centurions this year (I’ll stop bringing it up when I lose count Vinzander :P) and then some to even compete with a bad Tiger day at this rate. The Dillos might not get a good chance at a win until Round 7, with the Tigers, Rio and Dublin marking an intimidating upcoming trio. If you win any of these games, I’ll exempt you from any negative previews, reviews or general comments for the rest of the year. So with my caps lock still set to SAVAGE, I’ll be tipping the Tigers here.

Team of the Week

Quote from: Nige on April 19, 2017, 09:37:33 PM
We can't go on without mentioning first mention the good looking roosters that found themselves as coach(es) of the week, but now on to the team itself! Three of their finest made the team, two defensive stalwarts - Roberton and McGovern, and the best ruck in the competition Shane Mumford keeps his spot on the throne. In other news, forwards were very good this week, especially a duo from Seoul by the name of TJ Lynch and Brandon Matera while Luke Hodge and Taylor Walker were shining lights for their teams who have thus far have indifferent years.

With their third consecutive 160+ score, I here declare that Dublin is no longer the premiership favourites. Instead, it’s the team that scored three consecutive 90+ scores about this time two years ago. With two 100+ averaging defenders to go along with a 120+ averaging ruck and a 135+ averaging midfielder, this team just looks so, solid! 10 players are averaging more than 90, and another 13 averaging more than 63. They have the list to do it, it’s now just a matter of timing. Meanwhile at Beijing, I dare say no other club has suffered as many painful losses as the Thunder so far this year. With that 157 against Mexico City aside, the Thunder have posted three just average scores to get oh so close to a down New York & Pacific sides, as well as Cape Town in Round 1. These were teams that, had the Thunder beaten, would have made the rest of the year a lot easier. Instead, Beijing will have to grit their teeth and push through, starting with the form team of the competition. Although I’m tipping the Tigers, they are due to come back down.

New Delhi temper Asian Thunder

Quote from: Purple 77 on April 25, 2017, 08:40:57 PM
*whistles*, look at all those midfielders tonning up. This was a ripper of a game and Beijing did well to set the challenge to New Delhi for almost the whole game, but late slip-ups from Petracca, Butler and Caddy gave New Delhi the sniff they needed. A great win for New Delhi in a great game, another disappointing/honourable loss for the Thunder.

Oh jeez. Just flowering look at New Delhi’s past month: 161, 166, 162 and 150. I mean, what else can I say? Last week I guess was a good win against a challenging opponent, but that’d be the third opponent that has scored in the 140-150 range that New Delhi has accounted for. The only blemish, and concern for the Tigers is the Round 1 performance against Dublin to which it choked and won’t be able to rectify until September. I’ll point out that New Delhi has HGA here, and that it in all my time coaching Berlin in... flower, my 96th game as coach, that the Brewers will have an OOP ruck. It flowering disgusts me that this flowering game flowers me over and every flowering opportunity it flowering gets... *sigh*. I just want a premiership, you know? Something to show for the 95 games I’ve coached? You know how depressing it is to make fun of New Delhi only two years ago only for them to come across a shoot right by you? Well, joke’s on me I guess! Can’t tip against the Tigers here.

It's been a rough year for Moscow, they're just not able to put competitive scores on the board in the absence of key members. They do have a win to their name, but it's hard to imagine they'll be adding to that this week. However, you can expect them to continue to blood the youth and potentially aim to have another one of their youngsters get a rising star nomination. In their way of the second of this season stands New Delhi, the highest scoring team of the year. Although, it should be noted that they have been sliding in scoring output since Round 3. Did they spend all their tickets too early, or are they just lulling the opposition into a sense that they're beatable when the Tigers juggernaut is actually ready to roll on full stem ahead? This matchup has the potential to get real ugly, so look away if you're a Russian national.

flowering, wow. This is the upset of the season, and boy, would it feel sweet for the men at Moscow, whom attracted a little bit of controversy in a trade that centered around Gary (30) for Coniglio (101). Despite JOM being a late withdrawal, the rest of the team (maybe except Hipwood) came to the party in Moscow's best win since, I dunno, one in 2015.

I love this game.

The Tigers dropped a game that the bookies probably didn’t even bother opening a market for. That loss will hurt more the longer the season pans out and the placing competition in the top 4 heats up. Just as well basically the rest of the top 8 lost hey? Anyway, the Tigers have been the dominant team that unexpectedly slipped up last week and this regard, the Adelaide comparison is obvious. Their opponents this week have been trending upwards since Round 5 and dare I say, have finally woken up! The Saints have hit 140+ two weeks in a row now as their golden oldies return from injury, but it’s nice to know guys like Petrevski-Seton are helping too! But more performance like that from Jarrad Waite and he won’t have too. The Saints are team that are waking up from the lows of last year and the start of this one, and in this regard I liken them to the Dockers. Who would I tip out of Adelaide v Freo at Adelaide Oval with the Crows coming off a bad loss? RIP Christchurch (and Melbourne).

Pyongyang will welcome at least one Magpie this week with the return of Toby Greene likely to send Myers or Weller to a team that could do with their help. Sitting 7th from 8th in the points ladder, the Chollimas are in a nice position to make the finals and have already displayed their scoring power from 4 consecutive tons in Rounds 3-6. Two sub 60 scores in the past two weeks is not the form they want to have entering into this match, facing the might of Mumbai. The Elephants mirror the Tigers as the number 1 scoring team of the comp and, really, there isn’t a better position India could be. The opposite is true for their financial position, though, with the salary cap sure to hit hard come the end of the year. But that’s future Ricophants problem. Right now, Mumbai need to address at how they’ve managed to fall down to 6th in the ladder. They’ve lost 3 of the past 4 matches where their opponent has scored 146, 180 and 153. Damn haha, that’s unlucky. I’m not willing to bet that will happen again this week, so I’ll back MUMBAI!

The Samurai are fast fading into the lands of irrelevancy whom face the stark reality of a 6th consecutive loss for the season, against the Spetsnaz. This calls for analysis! *brings up ol mate spreadsheet* Right, I can see that Lukey Dahlhaus (102) is your only 100+ averaging player. As a forward, that’s brilliant. As a captain? More is needed, so that’s definitely problem 1 at Tokyo; lack of leadership. They then have 4 other players averaging 90+, which is fine I guess. It’s actually amazing when you consider that two defenders and ruckman are in that group. But Luke Parker? Wtf are doing! That’s problem 2; Luke Parker’s drop in form. The other problem is that 4 of Tokyo’s top 15 highest averaging players are scoring less than 70 points a week. Given the healthy balance of defenders, forwards and a ruckman in this 15 though, the answer to Tokyo’s problem is... TRADE IN AT LEAST TWO MORE DECENT MIDS. Then, dare I say, Tokyo could impact finals in a serious manner. The Tigers did that, except on every line, and more than 2 players. You know, I could give New Delhi some well deserved praise after all the crap they’ve had to take over the years. But all I think about now when I see them, is that three weeks ago, flowering Moscow beat them! I mean, no disrespect to the Spetsnaz, but you were down and out sitting 17th on the ladder. And New Delhi let you beat them. Heh, unbelievable. Tigers in this one.
