Round 13 results

Bradford Badgers 27.13.175 defeated Leeds Leeches 23.16.148
Despite a very strong performance from the Leeches under new coach jhello they were over run by a very hot Badgers outfit. Coach Whatlez has the Badgers firing at the right end of the season and they will trouble all sides in the finals. The Leeches cause was not helped by the early injury to key forward Jarrad Waite resulting in the Badgers having an easier time in defence.  This allowed Pearce Hanley to show a welcome return to form in preparation for their finals tilt.
Best Players:
Badgers: Barlow, Hanley, Mzungu, Cotchin
Leeches: Foley, Michael Johnson, Carazzo, Malceski.

Bilston Bunnies 23.17.155 defeated Manchester Magic 17.14.116
In a very scrappy game the Bunnies got over the Magic who seem to be really struggling at the moment. The Magic, due to injuries, were forced to field Dylan Shiel as a make shift ruckman and this was no match for the Bunnies dual rucks of Bellchambers and Ryder who had a day out. This enabled the Bunnies to control the midfield and provide excellent service to their forwards who were very dominant and capitalised on the service.
Best Players
Bunnies: Dalhaus, Adams, Ryder, Douglas
Magic: Sloane, Black, Waters, Liberatore

Grope Lane Giants 25.13.163 defeated Liverpool Lobsters 20.13.133
Late changes Josh Saunders replaced Bachar Houli, Nathan Brown replaced Brent Reilly and Clances Pearce replaced Sam Wright for the Lobsters.
The Giants looked to have avoided the Dungeon award by soundly defeating the Lobsters in this bottom of the table clash. The Lobsters cause was not helped with the number of late changes that had to be made and this seemed to have an effect on the team work. The Giants returned one of the highest scores of the season and must be ruing an injury plagued start to the season. Jack Grimes in his first game back from injury showed what the Giants have been missing in defence. For the Lobsters Captain harvey toiled manfully but lacked support when needed. Both teams will be playing for pride for the remainder of the season with the Giants no doubt hoping to lift themselves out of the bottom 4. Pressure is also mounting on Coach from the board.
Best Players:
Giants: McLean, Ebert, Leuenberger, Dalziell
Lobsters: Harvey, Duncan, Grigg, Goldstein

Winchester Werewolves 27.16.178 defeated Oxford Owls 22.17.149
The Werewolves continue to flex their muscle at the business end of the season comfortably defeating the Owls. With Roughead completly dominating Pyke in the ruck the Werewolves midfield led by Captain Priddis suported by Fyfe and Ball providing excellent service to the forwards enabling Gray to have one of his better games for the Werewolves. The Owls midfield more than held their own but their disposal into the forwards let them down badly. The Owls defence underperformed this week allowing the Werewolves forwards to dominate.
Best Players;
Werewolves: Priddis, Fyfe, Ball, Gray
Owls: Thompson, Steven, Dal Santo, Brett Goodes

Hastings Hurricanes 29.13.187 defeated Huddersfield Hawks 26.11.167
Late Changes Brent Staker replaces Blayne Wilson for the Hurricanes and Matthew Broadbent (oop) replaces Jacob Brennan
In a very high class game the Hurricanes overcome the Hawks in the tussle between 4th and 5th place. There was very little between the two teams with the difference in the end being the defensive work of the Hurricanes Brendon Goddard and Jarrod Harbrow who were able to repel the Hawks attack. The loss of Jacob Brennan before the match effected the Hawks defence.
Best Players:
Hurricanes: Goddard, Mundy, Dangerfield, Monfries
Hawks: Zaharakis, Sam Mitchell, Josh P Kennedy, Kreuzer

Swansea Breakers 27.17.179 defeated Crosby Cruisers19.15.129
Late changes Jed Adcock replaced Heath Scotland,  Jordon Murdoch replaced Simon White, Paul Seedsman replaced Matthew Boyd, Matthew Pavlich replaced Steve Johnson for the Cruisers.
The Cruisers were no match for the Breakers in this game with the Breakers allowed to do as they wished.  The Cruisers formation was upset by a number of very late chnages and this undoubtedly upset their rhythym. The coach is coming under pressure to lift performances by the Board. With no viable rucks the for the Cruisers, the Breakers were able to completely dominate all over the ground ably led by Captain Dane Swan Some spirited resistance was shown by captain Jarrad Mcveigh for the cruisers and result may have been closer if all players exemplified the same spirit.
Best Players:
Breakers: Swan, Montagna, Cooney, Sidebottom
Cruisers: McVeigh. Hooker, Reddan, Hale.

Newcastle Falcons 22.17.149 defeated Swindon Swaggers 19.15.129
Late Change: Taylor Duryea replaced Will Hams for the Swaggers.
In another scrappy match the Falcons returned to the winning list but were far from impressive against the Swaggers.    The Falcons were not helped by an early injury to skipper Jobe Watson and seemed to miss his general guidance and direction around the field. Despite the loss of Watson the Falcons were able to scrape together a win against the lowly placed Swaggers who were not able to apply any real pressure against the Falcons. If the Falcons are to make the final 8 they will need to play much better than they did and find a suitable replacement for Watson.
Best Players:
Falcons: Joel Selwood, Hannerbery, Devon Smith, Bartell
Swaggers: Rockliff, Isaac Smith, Jackson Trengrove.

Nottingham Hoods 24.11.155 defeated Birmingham Bombers 23.10.148
Late changes Clint Jones replaced Gary Ablett, Dawson Simpson replaced Alwyn Davey for the Hoods.
In the match of the round with 1st playing 3rd we witnessed a very entertaining and high quality match between these 2 teams. The Hoods lost skipper prior to the game and Clint Jones did a very admirable job as his replacement. The match was extremely close all day but cheered on by home crowd and the efforts of stand in skipper Scott Pendlebury trhe Hoods were able to outlast the fast finishing  Bombers whose captain Jordan Lewis was unable to match Pendlebury.Bombers:
Best Players:
Hoods: Pendlebury, Masten, Rosa. Dempsey
Bombers: Ziebell, Wells, Hartlett, Vince

Hebden Bridge Hedgehogs 25.18.168 defeated Staines Steins 26.10.162
In one of the closest games of the round the hedgehogs were finally able to win a close game over the unlucky Steins urged on by their parochial and strong voiced home crowd and this was the difference in the end. In this free scoring and high quality match the teams were matched goal for goal through out the day with the lead changing hands 8 times during the final quarter with the crowd really urging the Hedgehogs on. Both Skippers Brent Stanton and Ryan O'Keefe gave their all as did their team mates with both teams really exhausted at the end.
Best Players:
Hedgehogs: Stanton, Heath Shaw, Ballantyne, Bird
Steins: Jack,O'Keefe, Judd, Terlich
