Did the FFA expect Australia to be able to come close to competing with France? They think that this is a footballing nation, but we're not. A few lucky successful outcomes against Japan (win), Croatia (draw to progress) and Italy (only just lost to the WC winners) have way overhyped this country's footballing image.

France have Ribery, Benzema, Evra, Nasri, Giroud...Munich, Madrid, United, City and Arsenal.
Brazil have Neymar, Hulk, Paulinho, Luiz, Alves...Barca, Zenit, Spurs, Chelsea and Barca.
Australia meanwhile have Neill, Cahill, Holman, Kennedy, Bresciano...some Japanese team, New York, Al-Nasr, another Japanese team and a Qatar team.

Stop me if I'm rambling, but if they expect the players that Australia currently have to come close to competing with teams like France and Brazil no matter who the coach is, the FFA have seriously got to rethink their strategy.

I don't think I have ever agreed so much with one of your posts.

I think it's more the way we have been playing.  We really haven't been playing well for a good while now, so the sacking isn't purely due to us losing 6-0 against France.  Yeah, Brazil and France are miles ahead of us, but letting in 12 goals in two games still isn't acceptable.  The only thing I have against the sacking is that it probably should have been done earlier than now.  I honestly think we should re-build now, even with the WC coming up.  As it is, we won't even get out of the group stage with this squad.  Hell, we may not even get a point in all honesty, depending on who we draw.  I say get rid of the older players and the fringe players/deadwood and start blooding the kids.

My Chumps

Completely agreed Jukes, although I do think that two 6 - 0 losses in a row is pretty abysmal.

Watching the A-league again and I'd forgotten how bad it is :P Still enjoy it of course, and keen for the Victory game tonight!

There's only one Melbourne.

VICTORY!

GO HART

Can't go for Ange Postapoo.

Jukes

Go heart I guess. Not a fan of the victory (big club mentality when they're really not, and they've had a few cow players in the past) but they're still better than Sydney and the Brisbane Cheats, neutral towards the heart- they haven't done anything to flower us over yet.
