Did he say that he took it this year or last year? As it wasnt on the banned list last year only this year. If he took it this year then he might be in trouble but if he took it last year only he should be ok
WADA have said it has been banned since 2011
Unfortunately this is under the S0 clause which has the potential for a lot of loopholes get-outs.

Honestly, if we did purposely cheat I'd rather see us sit the next 2 years on the bench than set a precedent for getting away with it..  :-[

Not sure what to make of this at all...

KB is right; they must know something we don't... ASADA must have already hinted to the Bombers what's going on, or otherwise their lawyers are in the mindset that they're all clear...

But still, it seems funny that he would come out and say that at this stage of affairs... :-\

Have also said its only been banned since Feb this year

WADA said it has been banned since 2011, but when did the AFL ban it?? at the start or end of 2011 season or even later??

maybe he felt bad about being a drug cheat and came clean.
I feel he would probably put the welfare of the club ahead of his own conscience.
Besides, if Essington knew he was feeling guilt for whatever reason and was likely to step outside of the media boundaries set by the club, why would they let him do the interview?

so you're saying he'd prefer to protect the club that injected illegal substances into his body and allow them to get away with cheating rather than do the right thing?

maybe you've underestimated his character.

tabs- forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't actually think it matters when the AFL bans it... the anti doping agencies are independent and still able to prevent players from competing?

tbagrocks

Well, This could change things? Will only know when the verdicts are given!

Yeah - I'd say WADA bans apply to every professional sport, don't think the AFL implements bans on that stuff, just abide by WADA rules? ???

Ricochet

My understanding is ASADA have had it banned since Feb this year but WADA was 2011

Toga

So which has more influence? ASADA or WADA?

Ricochet

WADA is World
ASADA is Aus

So I would assume WADA I guess

kilbluff1985

But EFC prob asked ASADA if it was legal not WADA

Are they though?? I thought that its still up to the clubs and the AFL to ban players. Does the AFL have a banned list that is exactly the same as the WADA or ASADA list?? I would have thought that they would have been the same.

One question i would like to know is that if these banned substances were being taken by these players, how did they get the substances? Did the club buy them? did the coach buy them?? did Dank buy them? did the Weapon buy them??
Someone would have had to buy them, but how do you buy them if they are on the banned list. Surely there are receipts unless they have been bought from other resources.

This could turn ugly for the bombers

But you'd think ASADA would take orders from WADA...

Idk I'm just thinking, surely the two would go hand-in-hand, wouldn't think they would have different lists ???
