If Brandon Ellis is a defender then I'm locking him in. He'll priced at an average of 78, so he's not too expensive.
But he my be a mid only, as he's played on a wing all year.
of course! Gut tells me he'll be a mid only though,
Me too  :(

JR008 where does Conca fit in a fully healthy Tigers team? You boys have a lot of mids.
I love Conca he's a gun and IMO he's just behind Lids, Cotch and Dusty now in our mid.
He is going to get a lot of time on the ball and next year he could have a break out year.

Brodie Grundy?

I haven't read through all 20 pages to see if anyone has already mentioned, but he is looking the goods and should hopefully not be too expensive.

definitely would have a look, has good ground work for a big guy and loves a 2nd and 3rd effort!

he will be priced as a 80 average player. Hmac and Sandi will be cheaper if you want to go down the cheap ruck option.

Rough team -

Def - Goddard, Hanley, Hartlett, Suckling/Ellis/Young, Rookie x 4

Goddard as the standard premium, hanley and harlett as the improving premiums, suckling, young or ellis or as decent mid priced options (young should be classified a back next year and has 2 games at an ave of 50 this!), and rookies. Would also consider Heppell but think he will be mid only next year.

Mid - Pendles, Cotchin, Danger, Jack, Murhpy/Rich, Rookies x 5
Pendles picks himself, cotchin/danger/jack all very good premiums this year but each with the ability to improve 5-10points a game next year with a better run with injury/form. Muprhy or Rich as a cheaper premium option perhaps, or just go GAJ/Swan for an extra premium. Don't think GAJ/Swan has much room for improvement but will probably end up with at least one in my side. 5 rookies to fill the rest of the spots.

Rk - Goldy, Hmac/Sandi 2x rookies
Perhaps Goldy as number 1 ruck, have to look at hmac/sandi as the second cheaper option, a lot depending on who is fit. Then rookies.

Fwd - Franklin, Rockliff, Nic Nat  Bock/Daisy/Wellingham/Clark, 3xRookies.
Probably the hardest line, less great premiums, more tempting mid-pricers but also room to save some cash. Franklin can only improve on this year, Rockliff if still a fwd, Nic Nat should be a lot better next year. Look at picking about 2 of Bock/Daisy/Wellingham/Clark all returning from injury will be cheap and all with the potential to average 90-100. 3 spots for rookies.

Nice but after this year I would question the selection of...

Hartlett - just read the abuse he cops game day and look at his worst! He will be $50000 more than Gibbs too.

Young - Hawk turned Pie? Injury prone.

Cotchin - has let a lot down this year. Promises, promises. Also gets knocked around a bit. Not keen on Griffen, Beams or Watson?

Rucktion roulette? Can't argue with those but HMac worries me.

Buddy - hmmmm. Worried about him. Clark too.

A lot to like but a few I would query.

Good luck.

Will Goddard be classified as a defender next season? I thought that he'd played predominantly though the midfield/wing this season but maybe I haven't been paying close enough attention?

If Goddard is mid then S Mitchell will be a defender so he is a lock for me.

MC

If Jolly retires then Grundy could be a steal as Collingwood's #1 ruck option! Only worry is Witts perhaps coming in to give him a chop out which might decrease his output.

I always have a look at players who look like switching roles due to other players leaving the club (not the players who DO leave). Same goes when players return from injury etc. EG. Players who switched clubs this year didn't do much (Young & Russell spring to mind from a Pies POV)

NicNat if fit will be a lock, and should be discounted.
If Marc Murphy could ever shake a tag he would be good.
JPK should step back up a bit.
Danger/Cotchin/Beams are safe picks and should rise a fair bit. (Cotchin has had a shocking year and still averaged well)
One of the GWS/GCS kids i'll be picking as a prem mid too, they'll be winning games and picking up points. IE Bennell/Prestia from GCS.
I will almost defintely be avoiding GAJ as a starter in my team, and will look to bring him in down the track. Might sound blasphemous but I can see him sticking forward and dropping his output to 110-115. Still very handy and will go massive at times, but consistency will be the key.

+ A player like Dahlhaus/Christensen could explode as well, and i'll definitely pick one if a gun retires or leaves around them (Think Cooney/Cross or Corey etc)

Quick think about it, and this is my rough idea.

Def - Goddard, Hanley, Mitchell, Suckling + 4 rookies.

Mids- Pendles, Selwood, Watson, Danger, Griffen + 5 rookies.

Rucks - Sandi, HMac + 2 rookies.

Fwds- Buddy, Rocky, Nic Nat, Daisy + 4 rookies.

Rucks - hmmmm - Goldy looks the business at R1

Daisy? I'll wait and see where Mick plays him.  ;)

kilbluff1985

Gibbs, Birchall, Hanley, A Walker
GAJ, Pendles, Beams, Jelwood, Jack
Minson, Goldy

I'd forgotten about A Walker as a defender.

Birchall over a discounted Suckling pig? I reckon 12 topline premiums will be all you can afford with a couple of discounted guys and rookies for the rest.

After this year, I reckon my defence might be 2 premiums and a mix to stock up elsewhere with more reliable scorers.

I like Wingard too.

Cheers mate! Wanted to get the best possible in those lines, as defence is so unpredictable, and Mids you want the all out stars at the start.

Yes, am not sold on the rucks.. Thought about Goldy, but surely Currie will have to get a look in sometime next year? Think Goldy will be managed better next year and a lot of the time rucks don't produce two good years in a row. Maybe 18-20 games for Goldy not 22? Or 85-90% game time, not 95+?
I also contemplated Leuey and Jacobs? Leuey an absolute star of the future, could break out, and Jacobs a bad year, but showed us what he can ever age before that.

Daisy.. Hahah, wouldn't surprise me if he ended up there! Could come off a HBF and rotate with Walker up forward? If he's at Carlton.
If not, would fit well of half back rotating through the centre or wing with Clinton Young, wouldn't mind that.

If he plays a full year he'll average around 100-105. Good enough for me.
