Hawkers lineup is pretty similar to what I also want. Murphy should roughly be the same price that Mundy was last year

It depends where the strength is in rookies and mid priced players.

This year I went with

2 defenders over 500k (Goddard/Gibbs) 1 high 300's (Hibberd), 1 bottom range mid priced player (Russell) and rookies

2 top end premiums (Ablett and Pendles, who I initially had as Beams), 2 lower end premiums (Jack and Murphy), 1 mid pricer (Moloney) and then the rest were rookies, but I had two of the more expensive ones in Stevens and Wines

Both my rucks were under 500k, I started with Goldstein and Berger, Rowe and Blicavs my rookies

Forwards I loaded up a bit in case of emergency with Berger, Cox, Rockliff, Zorko, Bartel were my premium priced players, JJK, Karnezis and Byrnes my mid priced guys and Caff my only rookie. Byrnes was traded out pretty quickly for Dwyer when I knew Berger was safe and that Dwyer was getting games.

Next season I am thinking something similar, 2 stable defenders (possibly Walker and Mitchell if they get DPP), a mid priced player (Suckling) and then rookies. 4 top end mids most likely, Pendles Beams, Ablett and Jack again, the mid priced player in Murphy as he will be sub 500k and then rookies. I will try and save cash in the ruck again, forwards if Danger is available he is a lock, Wingard and I will get a mid priced player like Tex.

Structure will all depend on the strength of the rookies. If the forward rookies are strong, I will either take an extra premium defender or spread the cash between the positions and maybe take a more expensive ruck and a more expensive mid for example.

Ill have 3 premo backs. 5 mids. 2 ruck. 4 fwd. going for the best players not the cheap

Vinny

Yeah very good points Matt.

Wow Jack was a good pick.

I myself am not too keen on mid-prices. Any possible good ones next year ?

Also Tommy Boyd. Will be at around 190k. Will as many lock him in ?

I think there is a very solid amount of quality rookies coming through next year. Just hope they get games.

Looking at this too. Except HMac in the rucks who won't be at premo price. Unless there is a freak mid-pricer - Staying well away.

Allows for the best of the best premiums.

I can see Walker being the JJK of next year, Murphy will be a more expensive mid priced player, add in Clay Beams and Dale Thomas who could be ok picks for their prices, Griffin at the Dockers depending what happens with Sandilands next year, HMac, Chappy is risky if he goes round again but could be worth it, Menzel will be rookie priced but it depends on his knee, same with Morabito, there are probably a couple of others as well.

There are also a few guys that could have breakout seasons like for example Hibberd did this year. Hibberd was priced under 400k and he is currently the number 3 defender in overall points this season. Goldstein was under 500k and has scored the 5th most points of any player this season. For those that started with Jacobs this season, it might sound ridiculous, but if he is priced at 450k he could be worth starting the season with. He is still young and Goldstein had a down season last year before bouncing back.

There has been a lot of talk about Prestia for 2014. Is anyone locking him in for sure ?
It'll depend on who else I get, but I'm definitely pencilling him in.

Vinny

Yeah for many it depends what Tex is priced at but hopefully he can have a good year.

I think he will be too expensive to be an option for next year. Played 5 games for an average of 70, so may end up being like LeCras this year with most shying away due to him being a little pricey.

Potential to average 100+ though whereas Lecras was never going to average 100

Does anyone have a rough idea on how the injury discount works ?

What does it depend on ?

Will be interesting to see what position Dale Thomas is given next year. He did play half-back for those few games between his injuries, however probably not enough to be given MID-DEF DPP.

Goldstein's down year was mainly due to H-MAC stealing his game time. Jacobs hasn't had that issue this season it's just been his form. Although he has proven he can average 100+ so you never know  ;)

Players are priced at what they averaged the year before, but if they missed games the year before then they get a certain discount. I'm not sure on the exact discount but I know you have to miss most of they year to get a discount. It varies from about 40% to 10%.

Does depend on the player, we all remember thinking Lecca would be under 300k, but CD had a different opinion, cheating us again yes, but was fair to everyone! So, with a guy like Taylor frogging Walker? Who knows how much discount he will get? ???

Honestly, they make it up sometimes!

Vinny

Alright thanks fellas ! Hope his cheap enough.

Anyone remember Mitch Thorp? Been dominating in Tassie and may be drafted again. For anyone who doesn't know who he is, he's the guy the Hawks drafted at #6 ahead of Jelwood. If he gets drafted he should get games and be a good rookie forward choice. Nt sure about a lock as yet, but I think he's one to keep an eye and see where he gets drafted.
