Talking about Rocky being a Mid only Holzman and nobody picking him, could this be the same situation for Stevie J?

I'm seriously contemplating starting with Ablett, Pendles, Watson, SJ, Beams

Averaged 116 and scored 178 in the prelim. 8 of his 12 tons were over 120 and his lowest score was 75. Will be a big a POD next year.

the difference is SJ will be one of the most ecpensive in the comp and he always seems to miss games. Rocky over him easy as he is cheaper, will play more games and i think will outscore him.

Fantasygun

Not if SJ is as good next year as this year?

Vinny

Yeah he is also far younger.

I think Stevie J can curb his string of missed games next year (remembering his first two games were off an injury, so only 4 were through suspension) and after his last layoff he certainly went about keeping clean and not doing anything stupid.
As for expensiveness, he'll only be another $35k more. I don't know if Rocky  will outscore him to be honest. Stevie J is guaranteed mid time and kicks goals up forward, whereas Rocky only scores well while playing in the middle.

And the $600k plus price tag will throw him off a lot of people.. I like his scoring potential, and on his points average this year he was one of the top Mids.

You  honestly believe Rocky wont be DPP?

Fantasygun

Rocky 122.8 avg last 9 games. Ripper second half of the year

Fantasygun

Burgoyne was brilliant in the prelim but not the granny.
Could be good but not consistent enough in his scoring.

Ivan "Mullet" Maric worth using?
He was a great pick up in 2012, slowed down this year, still one of the better rucks.

What are peoples thoughts on Waters?

For me, i personally am locking him in for 2014 along side 2 of Mithcel/Walker/McVeigh, as well as Suckling.

Huge risk, but he should be priced at well under 400k  with a discount of his 80 average from 7 games this year. Well and truly worth it IMO as he is a proven 100 average player and extremely consistent! History shows when he has an injured season the next he plays close to a full one :P (Fingers crossed) With 30 trades he is a 'way not' player and will more than likely future in my rnd 1 side.

I'm with Holz, i want most of the likes of Dangerfield, Rocky, Simpson, Walker, Johnson, McVeigh and Mitchell to not get DP because it allows for more uniques to come into play. (I wouldn't mind 1 of Danger, Rocky and Johnson getting it as well as one of Walker, McVeigh, Mitchell just to get that extra big score into my team, but yeah definitely not them all!)

Fantasygun

If Walker gets DPP for backline will he lose midfield or forward eligibility?

Walker played a little bit of time up forward but not enough to justify DPP. Back only.

Yep, that's what I think also. Thank god too, some may get off him as his price tag will be hefty. Wooooo.

Yeah never thought of him! Hurn is another one who fits that mould.

Had another player who was around that price, but I'd definitely pick Waters on potential to him.

Ill be starting with Mcveigh, Mitchell, Walker, Waters and Suckling, maybe even Bock + 2 rookies.

I was looking at trading him in just before he got injured. He was awesome last year

His scored 99, 67, 73, 86, 103, 118, 113, 104, 106, 90, 83, 8 (subbed and injured)

So take away his sub score and he was averaging 94.73 after a slow start to the season and 102.43 over his last 7 games (minus the 8 sub score).

Would you risk him at an awkward price next year? I won't but he'd be a good buy under $400k.
He could do exactly what Hibberd did this year, I reckon. Those numbers are quite tasty.

Mat0369

Anywhere near the 400 mark you would have to start with him. He is this years Hibberd where the sub game has brought his average down drastically. Hibberd had Anzac day last year, Hurn has the Hawks  game from this season
