Surely Brez comes in for Finn and that will be their only change.

Hopefully Hadden gets chirpy to Root and says "hit him Warner" when the ball goes out to point

Harris < Starc.
Fixed, although i dont mind Harris getting picked. The lefty gives Australia another option rather than Right-arm over. Harris doesnt do much with the old ball either and breaks down alot (reverse jinx)

Agree that Starc offers something Harris doesnt, makes our attack more diverse with a Left Arm quick...

Im on a Aussie Redemption Multibet, Aussies to win the 2nd test and Adam Scott to win The Open... #JuicyOdds #LongShot

How can you say that Starc is a better bowler than Harris?!?!?!

When fit, Harris is Australia's best bowler and imo one of the best in the world. In 12 tests he averages something like 23 with the ball and has won us a few test matches already. He is an absolute gun and won't leak anywhere near as many runs as that hack Starc. Everytime I watch Mitch bowl, he reminds me more and more of Johnson.

AMEN.

roo boys!

Agree to an extent BB, I love Harris as another option in this Aussie attack and I think people just don't recognise his talent because we see so little of it before he goes down again.

But I do like what Starc brings to the table too, when he's on he's virtually unstoppable. Which ties into your Johnson comparison I guess  :-\

Bird also a very good player who's just unlucky to miss out, if only our talent in other departments was half as good as the fast bowling cartel we have to offer.

You basically answered your own question, when fit. he keeps breaking down and probably wont play the 3rd test after getting injured in the 2nd.

How does Harris's bowling differ from Patto or Siddle??

Yeah that's what I mean with the Starc and Johnson comparison. Their best is unplayable, their worst is horrible, and they don't show their best anywhere near enough.

I'm saying that when fit Harris is our best bowler. And we should be picking our best attack possible for each game. I know he will get injured again at some stage, and managed through the series, but everyone knows that, and if we get 4 or 5 quality tests out of him this year, it will be worth it.

PowerBug

Yeah Starc is exactly like Johnson. Tall, left arm quicks, stupid looking runups, don't know where they bowling, inconsistent. Both can be exciting but not often enough. Harris is a much better option for sure. :)

Mitch Johnson was a very good cricketer (once upon a time).

Yeah completely agree. I was never a huge fan of Starc, rated harris, bird and others higher than him. Obviously he's a talent and is only young, plenty of time to become a gun and I understand the liking of another angle that he gives, pushing it across the right handed batsmen where a couple showed they like the fiddle outside the off stump. Harris though as you said can be a genuine match winner when he's fit, offers a bit with the bat too has batted at 8 for Australia in the past and has a test 50. It's inevitable that he'll break down at some point in the tour I reckon (although definitely hope not!) So we may as well use him while he's fit.

The news today is that Khawaja is a certainty to replace Cowan, good choice and hope he takes his chance.

If Harris is our best bowler then he is selected first, but if he bowls the same way as either Patto or Siddle,k then why play all 3 when we can have some variety with Starc.

You don't have to have a left armer in your attack, England don't. You still get variation from the quicks in their height, speeds and swing.
