ENGLISH CHEATS!!!!!!! BROAD WAS OUT >:( >:( >:(

BB67th

That was an absolute shocking decision. You could clearly see that Broad edged that. How does an international umpire miss that kind of thing? Should be sacked for the next test, obviously can't umpire. And that decision could well go on to cost us the test match, and quite possibly the series.

Should be banned for life if he couldnt see Broad hit it. Well done Dar, potentially given England the series ::)

Broad shoulda walked. The respectful thing to do if you know you're out.

Yes he should have walked. You don't have to walk when it is a thin nick to the keeper and you aren't sure if you hit it, but when you nick it to slip, you walk.

Yes, I agree it was out, but that's a bit extreme. Everyone makes mistakes, especially umpires, because they have to make spur of the moment calls. If we sacked or 'banned' an umpire every time one made a mistake in any sport, we'd be pretty hard pressed to find some to officiate games...

It was a howler of a decision by Aleem Dar, but he's one of the best in the business, very professional and goes about his job well. I don't think we should be calling for him to join those in unemployment over one bad decision.

It's much easier for us to umpire from the comfort of our chairs, don't be so harsh.

Bad decision, but they have gone both ways in this match.

If the Aussies don't win it won't be because of umpiring decisions, it will be because their batting line up consistently falls short.

Good as Agar's knock was, it masked the really poor performance of our batters again. Too often we are relying on the tail, or a solitary batsman to rescue a batting collapse.

Couldn't agree more, our top order was absolutely dismal.

yeah the decision was an absolute shocker but if Clarkey hadn't used his reviews then we would've had him. i'm actually surprised the 3rd umpire didn't relay the message that he'd hit the cover off it

batsmen shouldn't have to walk. I mean all respect to blokes like Gilly for walking, it's a very honest thing to do. but really, the umpires are there to do their job, and batsmen are there to do theirs. i have no problem with that

we're going to have to bowl extremely well tonight to stay in the game.. cmon boys!

I'm surprised one of the umpires didn't review it themselves. They are allowed to review to see if a catch carried, and in previous series they have used this to also check for edges. If they ha done this, they would have clearly seen the edge.

How would a ball go to slip without being hit though?

upthemaidens

I think it shows that the referrel system needs to be taken out of the players control.
Leave it with the umps, let them discuss between themselves to come up with the correct decisions. i.e. Dar gives it not out then the third umpire has a quick word in his ear and says "wait, it was out". The decision can be reversed and the game can continue.
The fielding team thinks every close call is out, I mean thats why they appeal in the first place..isnt it?  ;)

The third umpire should be inplace to stop the shockers and as we can see, that isnt the case.

How would a ball go to slip without being hit though?
By coming off the keepers gloves
