Everyone treats him so unfairly though. He has 4 test fifties in 8 tests, so that's a 50 every 2nd test and every 4th innings. Averages 32.66 with the bat at number 6, i'd take that for sure.

As for his bowling, i suppose he's just taking over the overs Clarke used to bowl under Ponting, or that Graeme Smith bowled, or Kevin Pietersen did a few years ago. That sort of "we have some overs to use may as well give him a bowl to see if he can do something." I certainly wouldn't have him as the number one spinner in the side though. More than handy player, who'll play many tests in his career. :)
Lol what? You'd take a guy who averages under 33 as a number 6? I certainly wouldn't. Any good team will have batsmen 1-6 averaging over 40, most of them well over 40 and into the 50s, look at the great Australian teams of the past decade. I think we will see his average rise, and he clearly has improved since he last played for Australia and I've changed my perception of him a little. You seem to think his stats are excellent when in fact they are very ordinary, he has yet to cement his place in the side. I hope to see more improvement from him.

On another matter, what the hell is Stuart Broad doing sending in a night watchman for himself when he bats at 9? Makes no sense at all, has a fairly high opinion of himself obviously. Will love to see the aussies give him some chin music. Wrap the tail up and keep them to under 350, and that's a good effort I reckon. We need our bats to fire, watson and rogers looked steady and put on 80 odd last innings, hopefully they can better that.
Yeah why would you send in a number 11 to protect a number 9? Doesn't make sense to me, the whole night watchman business never has. Anyway, I think keeping them down to 350 would be great as it really is a batting pitch. I think Clarkey will score big in this test, as he does love a batting strip like in Australia. Remember that in the last couple of years we really have made some big scores when the pitch is good for batting (Brisbane and Perth last summer), so I think we will do alright here. It is only when the conditions are tough for batting that we collapse like a house of cards.

Cicjose

you mean that's the only time Australia has won test matches in recent times?

Yeah 33 for a number 6 isn't ideal. The stats on the TV classify him as a batsmen and people have been saying that he's in there as a batter. He has to bowl. If he is in there as a batsman only then that essentially means he is the best middle order batter we have in Australia, which is not the case...hopefully  ;D. He is nowhere near good enough to only be a batter he needs to roll the arm over and snag a few wickets for him to be worthwhile in the team. He is improving and I'm happy for him to stay in the team but he needs to bowl.

What a knob, shower bloke
Yeah, I said this also to the guy who runs the "Stuart Broad is a shower bloke" facebook page and he assured me that there will be a post on that subject tonight.  Carn the aussies, would like to see patto come out firing, was very ordinary yesterday.

Master Q

Still not a fan of Smith. That is all  :P

its me lads

Haha Q  ;D

I'm not a fan yet but still not a hater, giving him a bit more time to prove himself, although he needs to hurry up about it, he might look like one but he's not a baby anymore. He's 24 and needs to fire soon!  8)

Stuart Broad is a shower bloke FB page has over 64,500 likes and his actual page has over 77k. Not far off  :P

henry, you can't compare this Australian side to the great one of 10 years ago, because this side isn't the greatest, it's a work in progress. So if you have a 33avg at no. 6, and everything above it is equal or better, then that's a pretty good start, considering how inexperienced the side is! :)

And Broad has made 10 test fifties and a test ton and averages 25, it's not nightwatchman material but he is a good bat. ;)

Watson only averages 35 - and he opens! I would argue he is less valuable with the ball too, can only bowl 1 over before something gets tight and he has to take a few days off..

tbagrocks

Nice 8)

BTW i'm torn as I have been for weeks, Wimbleton, Le Tour, Ashes, Footy?

What do I watch :-[

Will watch some footy then the Aussies bat, watch the footy reply later next week!

Man this Harris can bowl a bit :P  Nice discovery by South Australia ;D

But it just shows how much we've missed the Rhino! Cracking deliveries this spell!

Nails

"We saw Australia get a 160 run partnership for the 10th wicket in the last match, these two are a good chance to do just that"

a GOOD Chance? a GOOD Chance? I'd say a Good chance is 40-60%

So he's saying they're 40-60% to break the all time 10th wicket partnership record? WTF Nasser (I think it was Nasser)

That's such a flowering retarded comment. flower off.

Nige

And to think some people wanted Starc over Harris. Hahahahaha. Get around Ryno!

T Dog

Rhino serious today...get it ?...rhinocerous... :)
