Hearing this rumour today thought i might post it.

So reportedly Daniel Cross will 'NOT' be playing another game at senior level this season, he has been perminantly dropped. This has infuriated Matthew Boyd and several other senior players, with the coach insisting on keeping our juniors in the side. There is also word that the club does not want to resign Cross at the end of the year as he is beyond his prime and isnt looking to trade him. Cross will finish off the season in the reserves and become a free agent.

Whoa... :o

I don't even know what to say, that's crazy. He's definitely one of their best. Being 30, he probably has a couple of years left in him and I'd like to see him play our the final years of his career with another club.

Wow that's interesting Noz cheers for the insight :o

You'd think Crossy would be more valued at the club after all he's given it over the years, and in any rebuild experienced bodies are vital... Seems a bit strange he'd be thrust to the outer like he has been.

I'm sure another club would take him in though if this is true?

Holz

the moloney of 2014. Im sure someone will pick it up and they will regret it if this is true.

good news from Hrovatt though

Silly not to play a senior player that is still well and truly performing at (and above) the level required to be in the best 22.

I get that they want to play kids, but...

Sounds abit like what happen to Scott West. I can see why we would do this though. We recruited a plethora of midfielders in the offseason and there just isn't enough space for Cross.

Ziplock

haha

that's bordering on tanking :P

generally you have to pick the 'best talent' available when it's your pick in draft situations, so that probably 'shapes' most teams sometimes as opposed to 'needs' position-wise ...

its me lads

Wowee, boy oh boy.

Knew he was out of favour but this is shocking for him.

champ, always gives 100%

Mr.Craig

I can think of a few teams that wouldn't mind him.

In the VFL he is averaging 32 disposals, 5 marks and 7.4 tackles.

AFEV

I'd definitely take him at the Bombers.

Pretty impressive and very odd that he has been left out so long. Wallis is just below that in the VFL averaging 29 disposals, 2.5 marks, 6.3 tackles and a goal a game. Can't seem to translate that form in to the AFL though...

Ziplock

they're giving their young kids a run and dont see cross as the future.

with that form though, and considering he was playing well at AFL level too, it's dangerously close to tanking imo :P

silloc

i'd also take him at Essendon if we could get a season or 2 out of him. But he's probs best suited for GWS, get some bucks before he retires
