I'm on Birchall this week, but I started with Duffield.

Would probably go Birch purely because he is at a bargain price. Duffield a close second, followed by Enright.

Wouldn't go near MJ and I don't see Ibbo maintaining his average. Houli would be a massive POD, but I really wouldn't feel safe with him in my side tbh.

And logic comes to town...thats exactly how i know I should order them and I think its what I'm going to stick with!  :)

why is everyone not backing Ibbo to maintain his DT form??

Probably because he has never shown premium status before. Has thrown in 2 60's scores as well which isn't great.

I can see why people won't want him but IMO he's here to stay as a premium, might not average over 100 for the year but 90 at least, even pushing 95+ average.

Yeah, I know it's different but Ivan maric hadn't averaged above 65 before last year!  I think he's a chance all dockers defense are scoring decent recently ibbo, duff, MJ

Lyon loves his defenders. Goddard, Gilbert and Fisher were all DT guns when he was in charge of the Saints.

Now he's turning Duffield, Ibbo and MJ into DT sluts. :P

Love that good old +6 chipping between them in defense!

Got the same dilemma mate!
My Backline is: Goddard, Heppel, Gibbs, Birchall, Vlastiun, Goodes (Terlich and Laird)

I am getting rid of Laird this week for sure and can afford any backmen just not sure who!

Leaning towards Enright this week and then get Hanley in for Terlich the following week......

Ibbotson i like the look of but not sure if he can sustain his incredible form and dont wanna pay top dollar on him if he cant

Is there anyone we are all missing?

That sounds good. Even Mcpharlin is having a good year DT wise. Averaging 74 but theres a 0 in there and also a subbed out game (from memory it was because they were dominating). Take out the 0 and he's going at 82 points a game. certainly not reccomending him but you'll probably be surprised by his figures

42, 109, 0, 79, 95, 81, 82, 81, 80, 91 CONSISTENT  :o

And a sub effected 81 where he was subbed in the third quarter ( averaging more than Hartlett/Scotland if you don't include the 0!)

Also strange Lyon has never been able to convert zac from a spud to a stud

The concern I have with the freo defenders is that one of the four will always have a quiet game while the others go mental, and it seems to change all the time:

R12: Ibbo 121, MJ 107, Duff 66, McPh 91 (385 between them)
R10: Ibbo 69, MJ 95, Duff 72, McPh 80 (much more even spread this round) (316)
R9: everyone went huge against the Dees, so doesn't count  :P
R8: Duff 106, MJ 98, McPh 82, Ibbo 65 (351)
R7: Ibbo 136, Duff 109, McPh 81, MJ 66 (392)
R6: Duff 96, McPh 95, Ibbo 96, MJ 67 (354)

They've rarely shared 400 points evenly together. Someone always has a quiet game, except McPharlin who never has a HUGE game.

Bugger it, I don't trust a single defender except for Goddard, Heppell and Gibbs...trades reversed and Talia brought in!  :o

Houli: Flying under the radar well and truly, not too sound up myself but i mentioned him a few weeks but nobody was having a bar of it. Definately a very viable option and think people aren't giving him the respect he deserves. Started the season with 54 and 38 but since then his lowest has been 77. Great POD. Only 2.4% ownership.

I've been listening! Been waiting for this week to grab him. I think he's a fantastic option. Very consistent, which is rare for defenders. I can also see the Tigers doing well in the second half of the season, and Houli should benefit from that.

Duffield was on my radar for a while, but as mentioned, Freo defenders are a lottery. They'll score big every now and then, but your guess as to who is as good as mine.

Should we turn this in to a poll? I'm bringing in a backman and was set on Enright, but now I'm not sure. The options floating around are Houli, Malceski, Ibbotson, Duffield, Enright and Ellis. You could throw Birchall into that mix, but I already have him.

EDIT: Made a poll http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,82897.0.html
