Would be a good fit but doubt he would leave the hawks for another victorian club. Freo or gws or staying imo. As a hawks supporter would like him to stay, but I don't think he's a huge loss if he wants to go.

I reckon a trade like this could be beneficial for both parties, although if he leaves it will likely be through free agency rather than trades

Gws gives: Taylor adams (young victorian midfielder top 10 draft pick who there's been rumours about wants to return home - hasn't re-signed) and a draft pick (maybe 1st/2nd round)

Hawks give buddy.

Reckon that would be a pretty fair deal, we get another young midfielder to take the reins from mitch/hodge/sewell etc in a couple of years and gws gets probably the biggest drawcard in the game. As I said before though would love him to stay.

the thing with that is GWS don't have to give up anything for Franklin, they can offer a showerload of cash and Hawks have to try to match it, if they don't then GWS get Franklin and Hawks get a first round draft pick. much like Goddard to Essendon.

i think that's how it works anyway

but you're right Carlton would be silly not to offer a bucketload to Franklin, it's just that GWS can offer more. which is bullshower.

Yeah I know if he leaves through free agency gws don't have to give anything, that's why I would prefer a trade which unfortunately probably won't happen.

Overrated by who? And has only played like 73 games

I don't really think any Essendon supporters think he's overly great or overrate him is fairly inconsistent IMO but like I said not even played a 100 games

So I put this topic to a few wise & intelligent old warhorses today who watched game last night.

After a few minutes they agreed that Franklin to Carlton is a very high possibility for numerous reasons, they went as far to say it seems more likely Franklin to Carlton before GWS, but a west oz team still remains favourite with 211 probably in his last year and Pavs wage in veteran catagory

If I were Hawthorn I'd definitely look at a trade for him as you suggested henry.. probably your best case scenario (unfortunately) unless he decides to stay, which by all reports isn't very certain..

If you could get Taylor Adams and their first round draft pick, and use it to get like Boyd (direct replacement) or Aish (Timmy O'Brien will be great replacement in the future i'm sure) then I'd even go so far as to say you'd be close to better off, would really set up your future.

Either way you guys are a strong team and i'm sure you'll cope whether he decides to stay or leave. :)
