LUCKLESS Carlton rookie Rhys O'Keeffe is recovering from a serious bout of white staph infection.

The promising 22-year-old, who has managed just three AFL games in four-and-a-half injury plagued seasons with the Blues, contracted his latest and strangest ailment after suffering complications with a troublesome foot.
