3 horse race IMO

Mitch to come home with a wet sail. Has too much quality around him to shut down. His team mates will be giving it to him a fair bit also compared to Suns and Tigers,  a bit older, mature and durable does him no harm either.

Swans clearly playing the old "its not how yer start, but how yer finish"

Premierships arent won in May, the Swans have played it perfectly...bring in Mitch mid season to get some touch and ensure he doesnt suffer from the general.

Tippett comes in mid season also, 2 players that will add massive depth in so many ways, Swans to come home strong

Kennedy or Toumpas! Maybe Crouch! Laird and Kerridge also good! :P  But seriously these are a chance

Toga

Tbag, I'm sorry, but IMO there is very little chance of any of them being a chance for the award. :P

Kerridge possibly, but unlikely.

Jaeger has been consistent from the start and has played all games so far, Vlastuin has been just as good (IMO) but has played less games... But he's one the game for the Tigez off his own boot on a few occasions. These two would have to be the frontrunners.

Mitchell is a champion and if he plays as many games as the other two already mentioned, he is in with a very solid chance, that's for sure!

Also another in an SA team, Oli Wines, also My boy Lukey Brown

Ok I will sound bias again :P  If we lose this week the finals will be a battle, then expect the Crouch, Laird, Kerridge, Brown, Lyons to all get plenty of game time time. Wines will be right there also!

Vlas IMO has it, Jaegar next, but don't rule out the SA boys just yet, only round 11 ;)

wines and whitfield maybe.

Nige

Ollie and Tigger might come close, but surely Jaeger's got it in the bag?

Nothing against O'Meara or Whitfield but, neither team deserve a rising star, imo they are both flowering cheats! (Ok maybe I'll make my own thread soon)

Suns what? AFL allowed a team of kids to recruit two more 17yr olds? Cheats

Giants no better! Take those early picks you never needed when, what you needed was older players ::)

Still, the AFL allowed it so ..... What should we be thinking? ???

Toga

Yeah actually Wines started the season like a house on fire but has dropped off now. Would still surely be in the mix.

IMO Jaeger > Vlastuin > Wines/Mitchell >> the rest

I love it when a crows supporter talks about cheating teams...

firstly, the rising star is a personal award, and not a team award.
secondly, since the AFL started (including the introduction of interstate teams, so 1987) the following players under 18 have debuted
ron james- 16, 1987
andrew embly- 17, 1999
luke hodge- 17, 2002
gary ablett junior- 17, 2002
daniel kerr- 17, 2001
brent stanton- 17, 2004
dustin fletcher- 17, 1993
brendon goddard- 17, 2003
matt maguire- 17, 2002
(cbf now, the following players were all 17 on debut)
andrew walker, brett deledio, brad ebert, brent guerra

note, that's on debut, not even when they were drafted

3rdly, for arguments sake, port adelaide has had a fair few high draft picks in recent years... which they used to select young talent, in a hope to be competitive enough to win a flag sometime in the next decade. I'm sure they could have traded away picks that they used to take players like butcher, wines, wingard etc. for older, established players and tried to crack into the 8  with a more established team, but given themselves little chance of success... but they didn't. BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT flowerING HIGH PICKS ARE ALLOCATED FOR.

if the AFL hadn't wanted the suns/ giants to use their high picks, they would have made it mandatory that they were traded for players.

but they didn't.

basically, stfu. The giants and the suns have followed the AFL rules to create the best teams they could with what they were legally allowed to do within the rules.

unlike, once again, the crows.

Jroo

If you had to give votes who would you go for?
I reckon:
5. O'Meara
4. Vlastuin
3. Wines
2. Mitchell
1. Whitfield
Kerridge unlucky. Mitchell only on two votes because he's only played two games.

Toga

Yeah I'd agree with that for the moment Jroo, IMO Mitchell is only behind JOM & Vlas due to lack of games played.
