awesome game Ringo, congrats on the win, love to see the home (QLD) teams win, when NOT playing the pies.

and especially when playing the cats :)

we were optimistic even excited about the lions at season start, tonight a glimpse of why....  cats put the cue in hte rack but it still took a lot of great footy to get home.

Still not convinced on Voss's coaching though Colli. Starting Hanley and Rocky forward did not look good at the start.

I agree, this was ALL about the players.... you can't coach what they pulled out in the last quarter.

you can credit the coach if they do it every week - usually (Geelong), but out of the blue like that, i give the coach no credit for that, and the players all the credit.

the coach was more shocked than we were :)

This weekend saw the inaugural North v South for the Braveheart Shield.

In a somewhat surprise result North Teams come home strongly to defeat all South Teams.

Team 1's North 1970 defeated South 1753
South Team 1 was always on the backfoot following the injuries to Hurn,Birchall and Vlastuin who were all subbed out. The effect of this was shown that North Defenders scored 350 compared with South Defenders 187. With the defenders falling North were easily able to over run South. North midfield out shone the South Midfield well led by Captain Griffin, Barlow , Boyd and Kennedy. South took a risk naming Steven as captain and this backfired with vice captain Montagna matching Griffins score.
Best Players:
North: Griffin, Barlow, Steve Johnson, Boyd
South: Montagna, Fyfe, Steven, Jack

Team 2's North 1793 defeated South 1606
Late changes: Tom Mitchell replaced David Mundy and Dean Terlich was promoted to utility for South,
This match was initially one of the tightest of the weekend but North came home with a wet sail to overwhelm the South Team. When it mattered most Captain Andrew Swallow, Defender Garrick Ibbotson and Forward Matthew Stokes really lifted guiding the North Team home after South made the initial running.  Souths plans were disrupted slightly when David Mundy was a late withdrawal. On of the differences in the 2 teams was the performance of Captains with Swallow lifting when needed and scoring 170 points compared to O'Keefes 134,
With the North defence faltering forwards Sylvia and Stokes were able to take advantage and ensure the win for North.
Best Players:
North: Swallow, Shuey, Sylvia and Stokes
South: Roughead, Priddis, O'Keefe, Kerr

Team 3's North 1676 defeated South 1631
Late Changes: Dean Terlich was promoted to Team 2 and replaced by Chris Newman and Ben Cunnington was replaced by Matthew DeBoer
South Team had the upper hand for most of the game but were unable to halt the strong finish of the North side with Captain Joel Selwood outstanding and carrying the team across the line. North Team played 2 Ruckmen in Goldstein and Berger and this paid off with both dominating when they went forward provifing difficult match ips for the South side. Captain Nick Dalsanto was a little disappointing for South only scoring 116 points compared to Norths Captain Selwood who scored 168 in a best on ground performance.
Best Players
North: Joel Selwood, Brad Ebert, Reddan, Leuenberger
South: Moloney, DeBoer, Josh J Kennedy, Hodge

Congratulations to North Teams (Falcons, Hedgehogs, Magic, Hawks, Badgers, Lobsters, Cruisers, Leeches and Giants) who will hold the Braveheart Shield for 12 months. Well Done and here is your shield.
