Just a small thread because I wanna talk about trades :o and no-one would read it in a team thread.

How do you think the trades your team made have gone? Did you make some real winners or are there some you're regretting?

Cape Town gives: Jack Grimes
Buenos Aires gives: Pick 15, Billie Smedts and Nathan Vardy

into

Buenos Aires gives: Jack Grimes + Jesse Stringer
Buenos Aires receive: Michael Barlow + Shaun Burgoyne

So in Trade lot 1 essentially we gave pick 15 (ended up as Jackson Macrae), Smedts, Vardy and Stringer for Barlow and Burgoyne

Don't mind that too much as they have both been studs. Thoughts? Good or bad?

Buenos Aires gives: Travis Boak
Buenos Aires receives: Picks 56 & 74, Scott D. Thompson

Trade lot 2 I feel was a big win for us, a 102.5 average mid which is an area we don't desperately need for a 96.2 average defender who has a low score of 70. Big win just on that alone IMO.

Buenos Aires gives: Jared Petrenko and Ben Jacobs
Cairo gives: Pick 51 and Drew Petrie

Trade lot 3 big win for us imo. Two spuds for Petrie who's a 102 average forward this season.

New York gives: Steven Verrier
Buenos Aires gives: Pick 88

Trade lot 4 - a nothing trade on both ends

Buenos Aires gives: Pick 34 + Clay Smith, Justin Westhoff, Brad McKenzie
PNL gives: Steve Johnson and Jared Brennan

Trade lot 4 - I feel we won this. Johnson has been a STUNNER and Brennan a handy back. Westhoff has had a decent season but haven't seen much from the other 3.

Mexico City gives: Paul Chapman and Brent Harvey
Buenos Aires gives: Picks 51, 52 and Stewart Crameri

Trade lot 5 - Meh not bad. Would help if Chapman and Harvey weren't always suspended or injured

Toronto gives: Pick 5 and Andrew Carrazzo
Buenos Aires gives: Mitch Robinson and Dan Nicholson

Trade lot 6 - probs lost this one seeing as Carrotz has been woeful and injured

New York gives: Pick 75 and Dean Cox
Buenos Aires gives: Pick 5 and Josh Jenkins

Trade lot 7 - I don't know what to think, could have got someone real good with that pick.

Mexico City trades: Daniel Cross and Sam Gilbert
Buenos Aires trades: Shannon Hurn

Trade lot 8 - probably just losing this one. Cross can't get a game and Gilbert injured

Overall I think we came out winners overall. What do others think? How did the Armadillos go in the off season trade game?

How did your club go? :o (Feel free to merge this with our team thread if you don't want it clogging up WXVs oss)

CrowsFan

Well I already did a major analysis of the Puma trades over in my thread, but I guess not many people have read it. Here is the link if you want a read :) - Puma Trades

Basically overall I feel we came out winners. Big wins were bringing in Taylor Adams for Sam Fisher, Adams is a future gun. Also getting in Andrew Walker for Jarryd Blair plus a better draft pick was definitely some good business, Walking averaging almost 30 ppg more than Blair! Masten for Griffin also a win, but mainly because Griffin is out for the season, but Masten has upped his average by 10.

Only trade I feel we lost was trading out Hannebery (and Tuohy) for Hill and Sheppard. Certainly lost that one so far...

Trade Analysis - Mexico City Suns

Trade 1:
Mexico Trade: Daniel Talia
Mexico Gain: Brent Moloney

Verdict: I win, Moloney has been great short term.

Trade 2:
Mexico Trade: T.Milera, J.Boumann, K.Reimers
Mexico Gain: B.Harvey, D.Merrett.

Verdict: I on traded Harvs, but he is averaging 107 and Merrett has been solid averaging 70's. Milera has done minimal and the other two were delisted. I win by a mile :P

Trade 3:
Mexico Trade: Ben Howlett
Mexico Gain: S.Black, D.Kerr, Pick 46

Verdict: Howlett started with a bang, while I on traded Black for not much and Kerr and P46 in a trade for Sidey.
I lose this, but Kerr gained me a gun.

Trade 4:
Mexico Trade: Pick 18
Mexico Gain: Corey Enright

Verdict: I ended up getting P18 back, which I used on Hrovat. I definitely won this trade, with Enright averaging 92.

Trade 5:
Mexico Trade: Pick 37, Nathan Foley
Mexico Gain: Scott Thompson

Verdict: Foley has been injured/quiet, Thompson is averaging 100. I'd say I win :)

Trade 6:
Mexico Trade: James Sellar
Mexico Gain: Chris Knights

Verdict: Knights started well before injury, while Sellar has been meh. I on traded Knights anyway so probably an equal trade.

Trade 7:
Mexico Trade: Kyle Hardingham
Mexico Gain: Jordan Russell

Verdict: Hardingham can't even get a game at the moment, while Russell has been playing the majority. This trade is currently slightly in my favour.

Trade 8:
Mexico Trade: S.Black, G.Ibbotson, M.Mattner, M.White.
Mexico Gain: Pick 10.

Verdict: Ibbotson has been really good. I on traded pick 10, but I'd say I may have lost this slightly.

Trade 9:
Mexico Trade: P.Chapman, B.Harvey
Mexico Gain: S.Crameri, Pick 51 & 52

Verdict: Chappy and Boomer have missed lots of footy although both have scored ok. I made this trade for the future, so I think I win easily. Crammers has been good, averaging much higher for Mexico than he does in AFL.

Trade 10:
Mexico Trade: Shaun Burgoyne
Mexico Gain: Pick 13

Verdict: Not sure. Burgoynes been handy..

Trade 11:
Mexico Trade: Picks 55 & 76
Mexico Gain: Brian Lake

Verdict: Lake has been really good, so I think I win this easily.

Trade 12:
Mexico Trade: Pick 10 + Aaron Young
Mexico Gain: Pick 7

Verdict: Young hasn't played yet, and I on traded pick 7 in a deal for Sidey. Probably a win but too early to say.

Trade 13:
Mexico Trade: Pick 7 & 91
Mexico Gain: Pick 14 & D.Cross

Verdict: Win. On traded Cross in a deal for Hurn, even though Cross has been poor this season.

Trade 14:
Mexico Trade: Picks 13, 14 & 51, D.Kerr, A.Toovey & H.Schade
Mexico Gain: S.Sidebottom & T.Membrey (P21)

Verdict: I win, simple as that. Sidey has averaged 100+ and will for years to come.

Trade 15:
Mexico Trade: Brock McLean, Chris Knights.
Mexico Gain: N.Hrovat (P18), B.Vince, J.Adcock.

Verdict: McLean has been quieter in 2013, while Knights is out for the season. Hrovat has shown he is a player of the future while Adcock has averaged 92, and Vince 80+. I win easily.

Trade 16:
Mexico Trade: Daniel Cross & Sam Gilbert
Mexico Gain: Shannon Hurn

Verdict: Gilbert out, Cross dropped. Hurn averaging the third highest out of all defenders and is aged under 25. I win!!!

OVERALL VERDICT:
I dominated.

Royals Trade Review

Trade 1
Bob Murphy to Moscow in exchange for Johnathan Brown
Verdict - Appears a loss but evaluate at seasons end.

Trade 2
Michael Hurley to Dublin in exchange for picks 20 & 22 (Pick 20 was used to Pick up Dean Towers and Pick 22 traded for Steven Morris)
Verdict - With Dean Towers yet to play but good for future and Morris subsequently traded out think I lose despite Hurleys Injuries.

Trade 3.
Luke Breust to Cairo for Josh Hill and Pick 8. Pick 8 was used on Troy Menzell
Verdict - Lime ball here Josh Hill is solid but Menzell has a strong future and just starting to get games.

Trade 4
Shannon Byrnes and Pick 28 to Seoul for Harry O'Brien
Verdict - Think I win this one

Trade 5
Sam Docherty and Pick 46 to the Pacific Islanders for Quinten Lynch
Verdict - Possibly lose this one with Lynch not performing as well as expected

Trade 6
Brad Sheppard and Stephen Hil to Sao Paulo for Daniel Hannebery, Zach Tuohy and pick 89
Verdict - I win this one given the form of both Hanners and Touhy

Trade 7.
pick 22 to Moscow in exchange for Steven Morris
Verdict Loss here refer trade 2

Trade 8
pick 64 to Berlin in exchange for Mark Seaby
Verdict - Loss here as Seaby was de-listed after trade and not picked up after draft,

Trade 9.
Jeff Garlett to the Cobras in exchange for Sam Iles and pick 36
Verdict - Loss here with Iles no longer on lists Trade for pick 36 deal with later,

Trade 10
Fraser McInness to Moscow Spetnaz in exchange for Tom Young, Nathan Wilson and Pick 77 (Pick 77 was passed)
Verdict - Both young players with potential - Slight win here

Trade 11
Not confirmed

Trade 12
pick 36 to Seoul Magpies in exchange for Matthew Warnock and Tom Lonergan.
Verdict - Line ball here with Warnock and Lonergan giving us some depth.

Trade 13
Richard Douglas and Steven Morris to Toronto in exchange for Ben Hudson and Sam Wright
Verdict - Toronto win this one given the form of Richard Douglas this year. Hudson was brought in as additional ruck cover and Sam wright not progressing as expected

Trade 14
Cale Morton to Berlin for Pick 45 Pick 45 used on Adam Selwood
Verdict - Line ball as both players down on form

Overall Verdict - First experience at trading and probably came out overall a little behind but have now got some depth at the Royals with Draft picks as well.
The 2 trades that really look like hurting me are Michael Hurley and Richard Douglas apart from those 2 reasonably happy.

Justin Bieber

PNL Trade Review.

Trade 1
Pick 41, T. Mzungu FOR E. Kavanagh, J. Brennan
Verdict: Mzungu although has been solid this season, probably wouldn't have made our XV consistently. Kavanagh can't find a spot in the line up this season, but looks good for the future. Brennan was used in a later trade, so think we came off winners here.

Trade 2
G. Horlin-Smith FOR J. Trengove
Verdict: Horlin-Smith has shown good signs this season so a loss here as Trengove has gotten injured. Not sure how we would fit Horlin-Smith in but he has scored well.

Trade 3
J. Paine + #59 FOR A. Cordy
Verdict: Probably a win here for now. Needed a ruck although Cordy has been out injured for a while. Not an awesome scorer which Paine has the potential for though.

Trade 4
#77 FOR M. Panos
Verdict: Nothing trade really.

Trade 5
S. Johnson + J. Brennan FOR C. Smith + J. Westhoff + B. McKenzie + #34
Verdict: Westhoff started well, then faded off. Stevie J is Stevie J so a loss there this season. Think long term we won this trade. Clay Smith, Brad McKenzie and Aidan Corr (with #34) should be good depth, with Clay a possible star.

Trade 6
#4 + #23 FOR J. Patton + P. Davis
Verdict: Loss this season, although too early to tell long-term. Both Patton (Season) and Davis have been injured for a good part of this season although prior to the injuries, they were showing solid scoring.

Trade 7
C. Newman + R. Bail FOR J. Griffin
Verdict: Newman has regained his form this season, although Griffin was on fire for us in the Ruck before his season-ending injury as well. So a loss here.

Common theme to our trades, we traded in players who would later get injured :P. Think we've got some solid talent for the future from these trades, mainly for the midfield. Likely lost more than we won last trade period due to the injuries :(.

MajorLazer

Would post ours, but made upwards of 25 trades in the off season and don't really feel like doing a write up on them all just right now.  :P

imo trade reviews are a complete waste of time except for the bleeding obvious ones more coaches are going to say they got the better deal even when it's a break even

my point here is it depends what strategy the coaches is aiming for....i.e get younger ones in or B get older ones in

as you can see both claiming a win because of different opinions and strategies

so really most trades cannot be simply based on paper and think it's a big waste of time

Purple 77

#8
Trade 1
Berlin Trades: Brent Moloney
Mexico City Trades: Daniel Talia

Trade 17
Berlin Trades: Daniel Talia
Pacific Trades: Pick 37 (Used to Draft: Matthew McDonough)

Verdict:
Gee, I'm an idiot on that one. Talia was never gonna be a great SC scorer, I think at the time I was generally hating on Brent Moloney and keen to get rid of Melbourne players. But, I managed to offload him at my (and Pacific's?) win, eventually turning him into McDonough, who, although has not yet played, has been in solid form in the VFL and in the U18s, averaged 100+ SC points. Anyway, obvious loss, with Moloney averaging a solid 89.

Trade 2
Seoul Trades: Pick 10 and Jack Steven
Berlin Trades: Preseason Draft Pick 3, Paul Duffield, Liam Patrick and Sebastian Ross

Verdict:
Duffield was great for me last year, and you could argue that a 97 averaging defender is better than a 103 averaging midfielder, but with Liam Patrick showing little and Seb Ross starting slow, I think I win this one. Pick 10 helped me secure David Swallow later on too. I also didn't and never intended using the Preseason Draft pick, so that was no loss.

Trade 3
Berlin Trades: Pick 22
Berlin Receives: Picks 30, 38

Verdict:
Yep. Not much to say. Those two picks were handy in me obtaining other players.

Trade 4
Moscow Trades: Picks 33, 69 (Used to Draft: Andrejs Everitt), Thomas Lynch and Brandon Matera
Berlin Trades: Picks 3, 30, 76 and Michael Walters

Verdict:
This one is the trade I am always thinking about. Tremendous loss. Although I do rate Lynch and Matera (both shall be worthy SCers one day), Walters is fantastic and tearing it up for Moscow. Pick 3 was also a noteworthy loss, and Andrejs Everitt has done very little. Stuffed that one up.

Trade 5
Berlin Trades: Pick 33 and Will Schofield
New York Trades: Pick 44 and Stefan Martin

Trade 15
Cape Town Trades: Max Gawn + Pick 78 (Used to Draft: Josh Saunders)
Berlin Trades: Stefan Martin

Verdict:
A win. Schofield and Martin are averaging less than 60 and 50 respectively, and Max Gawn is looking the goods, although slow in his development. Saunders has also played a couple of games and I really like the looks of him. Pick 44 was on-traded later on for other picks, which gave me a couple more players. So I reckon I win this one.

Trade 6
Berlin Trades: Picks 10, 38, Jeremy Howe and Sam Darley
Pacific Trades: Picks 45, 60 (Used to Draft: Clay Cameron) and David Swallow

Verdict:
Knew I overpayed when I did the trade, but that David Swallow is going to be an outright star. Jeremy Howe mind you is going better, and with his forward status too... right now, I lost this one. Pick 10 would have been someone good, and really Clay Cameron and Sam Darley cancel each other out, so yeah, a slight loss on this one I think... worth having another look at it in a couple of years though.

Trade 7
Berlin Trades: Josh Green
Dublin Trades: Pick 68 (Used to Draft: Sam Lonergan), Rookie Pick 37 (Used to Draft: Cameron Shenton), Lachie Neale

Trade 12
Berlin Trades: Lachie Neale
Beijing Trades: Pick 29

Verdict:
Nothing major came out of this, but I did win this one. The Beijing trade made it all the much sweeter. Still rate Josh Green though, think he will be a handy depth player for Dublin.

Trade 8
Berlin Trades: Chris Knights
Mexico City Trades: James Sellar

Verdict:
Probably a loss here. At the moment obviously Sellar is playing and Knights is not, the difference is that Knights is alright, and Sellar is a big, lumbering, waste of space. I would definitely prefer Knights back. A loss.

Trade 9
Berlin Trades: Mark Seaby
London Trades: Pick 64 (Used to Draft: Jake King)

Verdict:
Got lucky here, Jake King for nothing really. Been handy in a few games for me this year! An obvious win, however minor.

Trade 10
Berlin Trades: Trent West and Pick 58
Tokyo Trades: Picks 13, 25

Verdict:
I got some handy picks here. Although Trent West is a rare valuable ruckman, and I think he will be great for Tokyo (keep the faith in him!), I probably won here. This status could definitely change in a year or two.

Trade 11
Berlin Trades: Pick 13 + Jack Watts
Berlin Receives: Jack Grimes

Verdict:
I knew I overpayed here, but at the moment, it doesn't look half bad. I want to make it abundantly clear that Jack Watts is going to be a star, at Melbourne? I don't know. But he will be a star, just wait and see. Anyway, Pick 13 would have been someone good, but come on, it's Jack Grimes! If he could just stop getting injured, he will be one of the best SC defenders in the game. So on that basis, and on the current situation, I actually win here.

Trade 13
Toronto Trades: Picks 50 + 71 (Used to Draft: Setanta O'hAilpin)
Berlin Trades: Pick 44

Verdict:
What can I say? The picks were handy. No winner or loser here.

Trade 14
Berlin Trades: Pick 25, Pick 29, Tom Couch and Tom Downie
Wellington Trades: Reece Conca + Jack Fitzpatrick

Verdict:
At the time, I thought I overpayed, but gee, Reece Conca is a real beauty. Let's just hope he can get his defender status again! Tom Couch and Downie haven't played a game, and I'd take Conca instead of Picks 25 and 29, so I think I won here.

Trade 16
Berlin Trades: Pick 45
London Trades: Cale Morton

Verdict:
I took a gamble here, and I think it's too early to tell who won. I think Ringo chose Adam Selwood and he has played games, which is more than Morton has done, so if you look at it at that basis, London win. Still think Morton can turn out to be a half decent player though. The best thing about him? He is no longer at Melbourne.

Trade 18
Berlin Trades: Michael Evans + Pick 50
Cairo Trades: Jamie Cripps + Pick 63 (Used to Draft: Kurt Aylett)

Verdict:
Damn. I took another gamble here, I thought Evans was going to be delisted, and failing that, fail to crack the senior team lol. I also thought Cripps would be a forward, I lost this trade, hands down. Cripps could still turn out to be something though, will review trade again in a couple years.

This trade period for me was very targeted. I wanted to add some future young guns (Grimes, Swallow, Steven, Conca, Lynch, Matera) and depth through the draft period. I achieved this, and as a result (to my surprise really) my team has improved mountains (8 spots up the ladder, 8th highest scoring team).

Having said this, I could have done better in a few trades, but overall, it wasn't amazing trading, but required and targeted trading which will hold me in good stead.

So remember WXV community.

A STORM IS BREWING

My Chumps

Sweet idea for a thread Nails. Enjoyable read.

Trade 1
Cape Town gives: Lindsay Thomas
Cairo gives: Pick 78, Jacob Brennan

A trade for the future this one. Thomas has terrible scoring potential as shown by averaging 75 this year despite having his best season and nearly leading the Coleman medal. Brennan has shown promise so far, playing 8 games for West Coast. Only averaging 50 but a lot of them have been sub affected.
I think this is pretty even at the moment, but will more than likely end up in my favor.

Trade 2
Cape Town gives: Jack Grimes
Buenos Aires gives: Pick 15, Billie Smedts and Nathan Vardy

A trade that I immediately regretted, but now I think it's close to a win. Grimes injured again as always, and always in danger of losing his defender statues. Smedts hasn't been excellent but playing consistently for Geelong is no small feat. I expect him to become a solid scoring forward. Vardy looks like one of the most promising young ruckman in the league. Adds some important ruck depth with Zmith going down. I on traded pick 15 down the line (perhaps stupidly).

Trade 3
Cape Town gives: Pick 36 (Dominic Barry) and Sam Iles
London gives: Jeff Garlett

Win win win win win. Garlett is a 23 year old forward averaging 95. Iles got delisted and although Barry is promising it's nothing special. My best trade of the period.

Trade 4
Cape Town gives: Max Gawn + Pick 78
Berlin gives: Stefan Martin

This is a loss. Knew Gawn had talent and really didn't wanna give him up (just ask Purple! :P)
Martin hasn't scored well and is know injured. Still time for him to prove me wrong though.

Trade 5
Cape Town give: Picks 15, 17 and Todd Elton
Cape Town receives: Pick 27, Nathan Bock and Lee Spurr

This was bad. Only because Vlastuin was selected with pick 17. I'd take Vlas over everyone involved in that trade, and probably my whole backline. Outside of that though it's alright. Depends on Bocks scoring when he returns (played a game in the reserves last week for GC). Spurr's been okay, averaging 75 with a few centuries in amongst it.

Trade 6
Dublin trade: Dale Thomas and Troy Chaplin
Cape Town trade: Joel Selwood and Lachie Hunter

This has been sh*t, due to Daisys injury. Potentially a premium forward but noooooo  >:(
Chaplin hasn't been as good as I'd hoped he would be either. Hunter unsighted though.

Overall: Pretty average trade period. Getting Garlett the best of the bunch, and Vardy. Pissed about missing out on Vlas though :(

AFEV

Trade Summary

Trade 1
Gave: Picks 2, 21, 39 and 57, Nick O'Brien, Alex Fasolo
Received: Pick 80, Travis Cloke, Trent McKenzie, Ayce Cordy

VERDICT: WIN

This is an interesting one. I would definitely do it again. #2 became Toumpas who might end up getting Melbourne'd, NOB has stagnated this season after dealing with more foot injuries and is a genuine chance to lose his spot on the list in the next year or two if he doesn't pick it up. Fasolo has flopped big time.

Travis Cloke is averaging 100 as a forward, potentially the most important player to the team given our lack of quality up forward. Trent McKenzie looks like he is Grant Birchall Mk 2, averaging 97 as a 21 year old. Looks like Bluey wants him to have the ball every time GC comes out of defence.

Cordy was on-traded.

Of all the things we gave up, the only thing I'd be interested in trading back for would be P21 (Membrey).

Trade 2
Gave: Nat Fyfe, Jack Darling
Received: Allen Christensen, Ryan Bastinac, Tom Liberatore

VERDICT: LOSS

Although it looks like Darling will plateau as an 80-90 average player, we gave up Nat Fyfe who has elevated his fantasy game once again and is looking likely to develop into one of those ridiculously valuable 120+ players.

Christensen looks good, averaging well over 90 if you discount his sub scores, but looks like he will lose his forward positioning in the next couple of seasons.

Liberatore looks like a really great player, takes lots of marks and lays lots of tackles, currently the #1 clearance player in the league. Could develop into an A. Swallow/M. Boyd calibre fantasy player I think.

Bastinac was on-traded.

Trade 3
Gave: Claye Beams and Ben Cunnington
Received: Pick 44 and Dion Prestia

VERDICT: WIN

Dion Prestia has arrived in a big way this season, averaging 95 at just 20 years of age, and with plenty of improvement left in both him and the players around him. I can see him averaging 110+ in the future.

Cunnington is also going very well, averaging over 90. Still has lots of issues with his endurance, if he can't improve that it could limit his potential big time. If he can, he will go nuts.

44 was on-traded and unfortunately Claye Beams suffered a season ending knee injury, so they kind of cancel each other out.

Trade 4
Gave: Pick 44 and Stefan Martin
Received: Pick 33 and Will Schofield

VERDICT: WIN

Bit of a nothing trade in the end. Martin and Schofield are both sort of struggling. But Schomo is 2 years younger than Stef (and has some potential for improvement) and we got a pick upgrade, so it's a small win.

Trade 5
Gave: Pick 33, Ryan Bastinac, Bernie Vince, Michael Rischitelli, Kyal Horsley, Lewis Johnston
Received: Harley Bennell, Koby Stevens and Hayden Crozier

VERDICT: WIN

I think we won this trade. astinac has struggled for improvement since his debut season, Vince is averaging under 80, Rischitelli likewise and will also be missing quite a bit of footy this year. Horsley and Johnston have combined for 2 games at an average of 36 so for this season.

Bennell has had trouble with hamstrings and a heavy tag this season, but has shown the ability to break a tag and with players like Prestia and O'Meara rising quickly he will soon slip the tag. His average is underwhelming (84), but the potential for 100+ is obviously there.

Koby Stevens has been serviceable depth, he's still very young and has shown some potential this year. Never going to be a world beater, but happy to have him around.

Hayden Crozier looks like a handy player, Ross seems to be giving him ample opportunity, and once he can shake that vest off permanently I can see him being a first XV player.

Trade 6

Gave: Steven Verrier
Received: Pick 88

VERDICT: WTF

Lesson learnt, do not trade while under the influence of alcohol and/or severely sleep deprived.

Trade 7

Gave: Ayce Cordy
Received: Pick 59 + Jackson Paine

VERDICT: LOSS

Eh, Paine and the pick were both on-traded in the end. Cordy has shown a bit, Paine is struggling. Probably would have been better off holding on to Ayce.

Trade 8

Gave: Matt de Boer, Ahmed Saad, Jackson Paine and Shane Savage
Received: Pick 7 and Jarryd Blair

VERDICT: WIN

Matt de Boer has continued his taggin role and is averaging under 80, Saad and Paine are both averaging under 50, Savage is averaging under 35.

Blair is struggling too, but we on-traded him before he lost all his value. CF was right about that one.

Trade 9

Gave: Pick 7
Received: Pick 10 + Aaron Young

VERDICT: LOSS

Our worst trade, was a massive failure. Young has fallen off the face off the earth.

Trade 10

Gave: Pick 10 and Jack Hombsch
Received: Brodie Smith, Mitch Brown and Ben Sinclair

VERDICT: LOSS

The lesson here is NEVER TRADE WITH MEOW. That guy knows things that nobody else knows. Hombsch has only played two games but has looked great in both and looks set for a big second half. Pick 10 ended up being Jesse Hogan, but Meow on-traded that pick to get Ellis.

Trade 11

Gave: Pick 75 and Dean Cox
Received: Pick 5 and Josh Jenkins

VERDICT: WIN

Happy with this trade. Josh Jenkins has struggled since Tex Walker went down, but this trade was made with the future in mind. I would expect Cox to retire at the end of either this season or the next, so offloading him while he still had this kind of currency was a good move when we won't be making a challenge in that window anyway.

Trade 12

Gave: Pick 5
Received: Jonathan Giles

VERDICT: WIN

Giles has struggled a little bit, but we needed a young ruckman and there aren't many of those. We will likely be shopping Jonathan around again come this off-season.

Pick 5 ended up being VIney, who looks really great but has struggled with injuries and Melbourne being awful. Has lots of pressure on him not only to perform but to be a leader within the club, which may hurt him.

Trade 13

Gave: Shane Kersten
Received: Pick 32

VERDICT: WIN

Comfortable win here. We used pick 32 to draft Paparone, he has shown a lot and with the imminent retirements of Brown and Staker I think he can cement his spot in the 22 soon. Hasn't really been able to gather much form due to Voss' revolving door policy, but has obvious talent.

Shane Kersten still hasn't made his debut, but has shown a fair bit at VFL level. Unfortunately for him he is stuck behind players like Vardy and Hawkins who are still very young.

Trade 14

Gave: Jake Melksham and Jarryd Blair
Received: Picks 15, 26, Sam Fisher and Todd Elton

VERDICT: WIN

Melksham has continued to struggle, his passion and determination is near on unrivalled at Essendon though so he will certainly make the most of his talents. Showed what he's capable of against Carlton, if he can do that consistently he will be brilliant - But he is yet to prove he can do this 2 weeks in a row let alone for a whole season.

Blair has been serviceable, but certainly doesn't hold the value he did at the end of last season.

Pick 15 ended up being Jackson Macrae, who looks like a fantasy player to me. I'm really excited about this kid and think that he could be in the best XV within the next year or two if he keeps developing at his current rate. He is a twig at the moment, but once he gets a couple of preseasons done and gets to show off his inside abilities he will...be good.

Pick 26 was Tom Lee, he has struggled but with Kosi approaching retirement and Milne looking like he might be taking some long service leave, he should get more opportunities in the second half. It also appears as though Scott Watters is realising the mosquito fleet with 3-5 crumbing forwards just isn't going to produce results consistently, so hopefully he looks to develop Tom.

Sam Fisher has been very handy, hopefully he plays on next season but even if he doesn't I think that we have gotten value for money out of him.

Todd Elton moved to CHB to try and get more opportunities, and then Chaplin showed up. Still an athletic freak so hopefully he gets some opportunities, but he was just a topper for this trade anyway.

I thought there were more than 14, but oh well.

OVERALL: I definitely think the list is stronger now than it was this time last year, we managed to usher in some seriously talented kids and we aren't going to lose too much quality in the next 3-4 seasons to retirement.

Gave: Steven Verrier
Received: Pick 88

VERDICT: WTF

Lesson learnt, do not trade while under the influence of alcohol and/or severely sleep deprived.

Lmao

Are you regretting this trade? Pretty sure we did it for the lulz. Hopefully Verrier gets a game one day.

Blair is struggling too, but we on-traded him before he lost all his value. CF was right about that one.
Still been serviceable for a 70 or 80, but hasn't shown much scoring potential like he did last season. Ball back and players like Kyle Martin starting to get game time may see Blair losing even more points. Gotta say Walker for Blair has to be the trade of the season! ;D

Certainly a win for you so far. Just want Kersten to get some games as he has a lot of talent! Been named emergency a fair number of times so far this season and was close to a call up a few weeks back. Surely will get games at some point...  :-\

Yeah, really shouldn't have said he lost 'all his value', but obviously worth a lot less now.

We have gotten the better end of the Kersten trade so far, but definitely think that will even up as time passes on. As you know I was apprehensive about trading him, he has a great work ethic and think he can succeed in the 3rd tall role that Gunston and Darling have done so well in.
