WEST Coast's Cale Morton has highlighted the differences in training standards between his former club Melbourne and the Eagles, saying his eyes have been opened as to how hard the AFL's top clubs work.

Although Morton takes full responsibility for his own poor form that saw him traded at the end of 2012, he wasn't aware of the gap between his former club and the best teams until he moved to the Eagles.

"The training standards are a lot higher over here," Morton said.

"I think there's quite a big gap at the moment," he said.

"But until you do change clubs, and you are involved as a player you don't really notice the changes as much."

Really doesn't give Melbourne much hope if that is the case.

Big Mac

If that's actually the case which I'm pretty sure it is, why the flower don't players like Dawes and Byrnes that we've brought in from strong clubs, actually say something about it.

Ziplock

it's pretty awkward as a new player, to approach the  coaching staff and be like 'yeah, the way we do it here is really unprofessional and below standard.'

Holz

this would explain why they have soo many highly rated young kids who turn out to be average players, its a real shame as im pretty sure watts, trengove, morton etc.. would be really good at other clubs.

elephants

We'll take Watts and Trengove off their hands.

Yeah that wouldn't be a problem pretty sure the Eagles coaching staff can get them into shape.
In fact at any other team they'd be great

It could also partly explain why Melbourne lost Scully maybe he didn't just leave for the money.
