Richmond's Trent Cotchin has said if the Tigers were to win a Premiership in the next few years it would prompt him to Consider Retirement.

Don't worry brad, we feel the same way. We don't want him going anywhere, but we would love a flag.  :P

That is a surprise to read. It does take a massive commitment to play AFL and we tend to forget that but when you consider how long your only in the game and that can set you up for life you dont often here a player say that football and money isnt as important as being healthy body wise, refreshingly honest and i respect his feelings and having the nerve to say how he feels.

but why not just keep it to himself?

affects things like contract talks, respect from team mates, clubs long term plans and the list goes on

i just don't get it

Cicjose

Richmond dont look like winning a flag atm anyway

'Cotchin reflected on the first five years of his career in the updated edition of The Draft, a book that followed him, Cyril Rioli, Ben McEvoy, Brad Ebert and Patrick Veszpremi through their final season of junior football in 2007.'

pick the odd one out...

Nige

Hahahahah Zip, I thought the exact the same when I read the article.

Fair point but i have a feeling if he's going to be that open in a book then it would probably be common knowledge amongst his team mates and coaches how he feels.

Toga

Dane Swan said a similar thing but he feels a commitment to the club and has said he'll go another two years to 32 y.o.

A bit concerning as a Tigers supporter, but you know the lengths some people go to sell books. Let's win a flag first and then worry about that. :P

Not too concerned about it at all tbh.

AFEV

Because this worked out so well last time (:P)...I have another hypothetical.

Once he has tasted it I don't think he will...But if Cotchin was GUARANTEED to retire immediately after his first premiership, would you prefer it be this year or in 10 years time when he has had a long & successful career..?

JBs-Hawks

So basically,  Cotch will still be keading the tiges through the banner at 73? :P
