Team is looking pretty good now. Only missing Charlie Dixon from the best XV.

Score of 1393 + 20 point bonus = Final score of 1413.

Well we lose there and really could have done a lot better. Hayes and Jacobs being subbed off, a few late replacements after I forgot to check the team and a crap score from the skipper. Not a good week for the Leeches, really struggling at the moment.

1552 - Which is one of our best scores for the season! But still a long way from the Hoods!

Ringo

Round 9 was an eventful round in many ways.

We seen the second defeat of the Falcons and more interestingly as will be seen when table is updated later today dropped them to 4th position on %,  Such is the closeness of the top teams.

The previous overall high score was beaten by three teams in this round. Congratulations to the Badgers, Bombers and Warewolves for their high scores this week. Nb Hoods also equalled previous best score as well.

Bradford Badgers 29.16.190 defeated Hastings Hurricanes 25.12.162
In a very high scoring and top class game the Badgers returned to form with a very impressive win over the Hurricanes. It was unfortunate for the hurricanes that the Badgers decided to click this week. The Badgers midfield of Barlow, Griffin, Swallow and Cotchin were able to get on top of the Hurricanes and with utilities of Prestia and Mzungu stepping up as well it was a long afternoon for the Hurricanes defence who performed valiantly but succumbed to the continuous pressure being exerted by the Badgers.  The Badgers once again have the highest score of the season but are still outside the 8 on % so they will be dangerous in the finals.
Best Players
Badgers: Michael Barlow, Dion Prestia, Ryan Griffen, Andrew Swallow
Hurricanes: David Mundy, Brendon Goddard, Patrick Dangerfield, Andrew Gaff.

Swansea Breakers 25.18.168 defeated Oxford Owls 24.11.155
Late change; Thomas Jonas replaced Matthew Jaensch for the Owls.
In a sub par performance from the Breakers they just did enough to keep the Owls at bay. The midfield battle between the 2 sides was just about even but the Breakers forwards Goodes, Naitanui and Josh Kennedy finally clicked as a unit to see the Breakers home. The Owls are getting games into their rising stars Jaeger O'Meara and Oliver Wines and this will serve them well into the future.  Bob Murphy also showed a pleasant return to form for the Owls.
Best Players:
Breakers: Adam Goodes, Leigh Montagna, Dane Swan, Steele Sidebottom.
Owls: Jack Steven, Scott Thompson, Oliver Wines, Jaeger O'Meara.

Swindon Swaggers 21.15.141 defeated Grope Lane Giants 18.11.119
Late changes: Jordan Roughead replaced Grant Birchall for the Swaggers and Eric Mackenzie replaced Matthew Wright for the Giants.
The Swaggers recorded their second win of the season against the injury riddled Giants.  In a somewhat scrappy match the Swaggers managed to capitilise more on the Giants errors to record the win.
Best Players:
Swaggers: Liam Shiels, Alex Rance, Simon Black. Jack Trengrove
Giants: Garrick Ibbotson, Brock McLean, Danny Stanley, Jordie MacKenzie.

Nottingham Hoods 28.14.182 defeated Bilston Bunnies 24.11.155
Despite a continued improved showing from the Bunnies they were no match for the Hoods who now sit on top of the ladder, With Max Bailey dominating the ruck, the Hoods midfield of Ablett, Pendlebury and Masten were able to run at will. With the defence led by Dempsey and Taylor it was also very difficult for the Bunnies to penetrate, For the bunnies defensive trio of Newman, Stratton and Hurn battled gamely against the Hoods onslaught but wieht of possession eventually told.
Best Players
Hoods: Gary Ablett Jnr, Courtenay Dempsey,Chris Masten, Scott Pendlebury
Bunnies: Richard Douglas, Chris Newman, Chris Mayne, Shannon Hurn

Hebden Bridge Hedgehogs 23.14.152 defeated Leeds Leeches 21.15.141
Late changes: Rohan Bewick replaced Daniel Merrett and Jason Winderlich replaced Andrew Carazzo for the Leeches.
The Hedgehogs back in the winners circle with a comfortable win against the Leeches who were down on troops with suspension of star fullback Daniel Merrett and withdrawal of tagger Andrew Carazzo. The withdrawl of Carazzo allowed Brent Stanton to run at will and along with Selwood and Jones were able to control the midfield giving forwards Martin and Ballantyne good service, Malceski and and Johnson tried to stem the tide for the Leeches and whilst successful at times were unable to completely restrain the Hedgehogs. Jeremy Howe continues to impress up forward for the Leeches but lacks the necessary support to kick winning scores.
Best Players:
Hedgehogs: Brent Stanton, Danyle Pearce, Scott Selwood, Nathan Jones
Leeches: Jeremy Howe, Luke Shuey, Michael Johnson, Nick Malceski

Stains Steins 25.14.164 defeated Manchester Magic 20.16.136
Late Changes: Lachlan Whitfield replaced Brandon Ellis who was Captain so VC Franklin score doubled for the Magic.
The Captains curse continues to plague the Magic with newly appointed Captain Brandon Ellis succumbing to injury and being a late withdrawal. Steins recorded a comfortable win against the magic with Jack, Magner, O'Keeffe and Judd controlling the midfield were never really troubled. For the magic Franklin showed signs that he is getting back to some sort of form and coach is trusting this will continue.
Best Players:
Steins: Ryan O'Keefe, Chris Judd, Kieren Jack, Lee Spurr
Magic: Taylor Adams, Jack Darling, Lance Franklin, Steven Motlop

Birmingham Bombers 28.20.188 defeated Liverpool Lobsters 20.18.138
Late change James Polkinghorne replaced Harley Bennell
In a very dominant performance the Bombers crushed the undermanned Lobsters. With the Bombers clicking as a team they showed that they will be a force in the competition climbing to second place on the ladder.  The Bombers were dominant all over the field and did not allow the Lobsters any latitude at all and did not let up scoring at will.
Best Players:
Bombers: Jordan Lewis, Jack Ziebell, Daniel Kerr, Hamish Hartlett
Lobsters: Clancee Pearce, Dyson Heppell, Shaun Grigg, Adam Treloar

Winchester Warewolves 28.17.185 defeated Newcastle Falcons 26.18.174
In this much anticipated clash the Warewolves continued on their impressive form of last week by disposing of the top of the table Falcons.  It was a very high class game with no quarter asked and no quarter given. It was great to watch the clash of Watson, Selwood, Hannebury for the Falcons against Ball, (playing his best game since returning from injury) Priddis and Fyfe for the Warewolves with honours being even on the day, The Warewolves finally got on top in defence with Gibbs, Vlaustin and Hibberd coming out on top of their opponents. With the Warewolves gaining players back from injury they showed that they can be a force in the competition as well. The Falcons had a couple of players out with injury and will bounce back.
Best Players:
Warewolves: Nathan Fyfe, Michael Hibberd, Luke Ball, Matt Priddis
Falcons: Jobe Watson, Jimmy Bartel, Daniel Hannebery, Allen Christensen

Crosby Cruisers 26.20.176 defeated Huddersfield Hawks 24.11.155
With Captain Matthew Boyd leading all comers with a best on ground performance, the Cruisers outlasted a tenancious Hawks outfit. Boyd was in everything and proved difficult for the Hawks to contain. Given the performance of Boyd, it was not the ideal time for Hawks captain Josh Kennedy to turn in his worst performance of the season. The performance of the 2 captains is probably what decided the match as there was very little difference across the ground apart from cruisers forward Steve Johnson.
Best Players:
Cruisers: Matthew Boyd, Steve Johnson, Daniel Jackson, Sam Kerridge
Hawks: Sam Mitchell, Mitch Robinson, Josh Gibson, Chad Wingard

Awards thread and table will be updated within the next hour or 2. Round 10 lodgement thread will be up later as well.
