Yep. OP made a simple math error. 77*2 = 154 not 144. They forgot to carry the 1.

Round 8 has been completed.

Couple of close matches and the Warewolves really showed they will be a contender now that they are starting to get their full team on the paddock.

Results

Swansea Breakers 28.14,182 defeated Bradford Badgers 23.18.156
In what was scheduled as the match of the round. the Breakers team really found some form to run over the Badgers who unfortunately seem to be playing teams at their peak, with Breakers returning the highest score of the season recoding 1821. (The breakers 156 would have defeated some 9 teams this week).  The Breakers bench of Montagna and de Boer played their best games of the season allowing the Breakers to control the Midfield and get the ball to their forwards led by Nic Naianui and Adam Goodes also playing their best games of the season. The Badgers were hampered somewhat with Mayes being named as sub and a couple of players performing below expectations.
Best Players
Breakers: Leigh Montagna, Adam Cooney, Matthew de Boer, Dane Swan
Badgers: Michael Barlow, Trent Cotchin, Ryan Griffen, Dion Prestia.

Hastings Hurricanes 21.16.142 defeated Swindon Swaggers 20.12.132
Late changes Brent Mcaffer replaced Shannon Byrnes for the Hurricanes and Liam Shiels replaced Bradley Hill for the Swaggers.
Although a little down on form the Hurricanes still manged to account for the luckless Swaggers. The Swaggers were on the back foot early with a concussion injury to midfielder Michael Hurley, Defender Grant Birchill was hardly sighted for the Swaggers in a very disappointing display by him. The Hurricanes had a consistent display across all lines and this assisted them to get the win.
Best Players:
Hurricanes: Brendan Goddard, David Mundy, Patrick Dangerfield, Kane Cornes
Swaggers: Harry O'Brien, Heath Hocking, Jarryd Blair, Tom Rockliff

Nottingham Hoods 24.13.157 defeated Oxford Owls 23.14.152
Oxford owls were fielding the same side as last week.
Late changes Mike Pyke replaced Johnathan Griffin and Aaron Davey replaced James Kelly for the Owls.
Despite their position on the ladder the Owls took the fight up to the Hoods just failing to provide the upset of the Round,  With the game on the line Hoods Senior Players Gary Ablett and Scott Pendlebury took control in the last quarter to deny the Owls. Great effort who played much better football than their position the ladder suggests. Would the Owls have caused the upset with a change of team selection from last week?
Best Players:
Hoods: Scott Pendlebury, Gary Ablett, Luke Hodge, Chris Masten
Owls: Scott Thompson, Jack Steven, Mike Pyke, Robert Murphy.

Hebden Bridge Hedgehogs 22.12.144 defeated Grope Lane Giants 20.11.131
Despite substandard performances from Scott Selwood and Brent Stanton the Hedgehogs had a comfortable win over the injury depleted Giants. With the Hedgehogs midfield not performing it was left to the defence led by Paul Duffield and Dannyle Pearce to repel the giants attack and ensure the Hedgehogs victory.
Best Players:
Hedgehogs: Luke Parker, Paul Duffield. Nathan Jones, Dustin Martin
Giants: Brad Ebert, Garrick Ibbotson, Brock McLean. Danny Stanley

Staines Steins 24.15.159 defeated Bilston Bunnies 21.15.141
Late changes Ben Stratton replaced Chris Newmann for the Bunnies and Rhys Stanley replaces Hayden Crozier and Tim Mohr replaces Ricky Henderson for the Steins.
The Bunnies could not keep up their encouraging form of recent weeks giving the Steins their second win of the season. Captain Ben Howlett for the Bunnies was very well held by renowned defender Ryan Crowley and kept to one of his lowest scores of the season and this took away some of the Bunnies run. This allowed Kieran Jack, Ryan O'Keeffe and Chris Judd to control the midfield enuring a Steins win.
Best Players:
Steins: Kieran Jack, Chris Judd, Dean Terlich, Ryan O'Keeffe
Bunnies: Richard Douglas, Joel Corey, Patrick Ryder, Jake Carlisle.

Birmingham Bombers 25.16.166 defeated Leeds Leeches 24.16.160
Late changes Jason Winderlich replaced Andrew Carazzo for the Leeches. Nathan Van Berlo moves to midfield.
In one of the games of the season and in a very high class game the Bombers just managed to hold on the fast finishing Leeches urged on by their parochial home crowd.  With Andrew Carazzo being a late withdrawal for the Leeches the Bombers midfield were allowed a bit more lattitude. The midfield clash between Delidio, Shuey,Dwyer and Van Berlo (for the leeches) against Murphy, Ziebell, Kerr and Wells was close all day with points just going to the Bombers. The Ruck Duel between Sam Jacobs and Zac Clarke in his first game for the Bombers was also tight.
Best Players;
Bombers: Jordan Lewis, Marc Murphy, Andrew Mackie, Zac Clarke
Leeches: Brett Delidio, Sam Dwyer, Sam Jacobs, Nathan Van Berlo

Newcastle Falcons 25.17.167 defeated Manchester Magic 24.16.160
In another close game and a very exciting match the top of the table Falcons just held on against the Magic who were playing their best match of the season in front of their home crowd. Captains curse continues to haunt the Magic with selected Captain Lance Franklin performing well below his best.  Is the Captaincy a poisened chalice at the Magic as it is costing the side some wins?  The Magic lacked the forwards to match the output of Devon Smith, Matthew Stokes and Jimmy Bartel. Despite the outstanding efforts of Magic defender Brandon Ellis the Falcons forwards were able to put on scoreboard pressure when it mattered. The midfield battle which was tight all day probably was a draw with both midfields giving their forwards opportunities and cancelling each other out.
Best Players:
Falcons: Matthew Stokes, Jobe Watson, Daniel Hannebery, Shaun Burgoyne
Magic: Brandon Ellis, Taylor Adams, Callan Ward, Rory Sloane

Crosby Cruisers 22.16.148 defeated Liverpool Lobsters 22.14.146
Late changes: James Polkinghorne replaced Adam Treloar for the Lobsters and Kane Mitchell replaced Steve Johnson
for the Cruisers.
In a somewhat sloppy game the Cruisers, despite having to play Warnock out of position, outlasted the Lobsters who were looking for their second win. The interest was maintained only by the closeness of the scores as the game was error ridden and showed why these two teams are in the bottom half of the ladder.
Best Players
Cruisers: Jack Reddan, Matthew Boyd, Daniel Jackson, David Hale
Lobsters: Brent Harvey, Bacher Houli, Dyson Heppell, Shaun Grigg.

Winchester Warewolves 28.12.180 defeated Huddersfield Hawks 23.15.153
The Warewolves are really starting to bare the teeth as the regain some of their Strength. Are they the team to take it to the high flying Falcons? The Woves welcomed back Nathan Fyfe and Luke Ball and their impotance to the team showed as all players appeared to lift. The Hawks battled valiantly but were no match for the red hot Warewolves playing their best game of the season. The Hawks defence had trouble containing the Wolves forward line of Gray, Roughead and Zorko who had a free run and able to score at will. At tyhe other end of the field the Warewolves defence led by young guns Nick Vlaustin and Michael Hibberd were able to neutralise the Hawks attack,
Best Players:
Warewolves: Nathan Fyfe, Jarryd Roughead, Matt Priddis, Nick Vlaustin,
Hawks: Josh P. Kennedy,Sam Mitchell, Mitch Robinson, David Zaharakis

Lodgement thread for Round 9 will be available later today as will awards update and table.
