Brisbane vs West Coast, Round 7, 2013

Just home from the game - We lost our way and discipline in the last quarter. (Probably in the last 5minutes more than last quarter). Pleased with the effort of the boys after last weeks debacle.  Lets see if we can show the same mettle against the Dons next week on the road.

Umpiring was so so. Started with paying the first mark to Nat when clearly it was juggled and hit out (I was right behind the goals so had a good view). Then having a similar mark to Lisle rejected showed the inconsistency.  I know umpires have a hard job but all I am looking for is consistency, Still trying to work out the final 50 metre penalty when the umpire clearly called play on after 30 seconds which in my opinion would have negated the deliberate shot at Goal and allowed him to be tackled.

One rule I would like to see enforced which never seems to be these days is the deliberate rushed behind. Effected both sides today to be fair.

Agree with everything Ele you said - Both teams showed they were desparate for the win and the match became sloppy at times but really enjoyed it apart from our brain fades and ill discipline in 3rd quarter.

Moloney will be a solid M8/9 especially when Black gets more game time. JJK was reasonably held by Merrett but a couple of cheap free kicks allowed him a couple of goals. (I have him in my SC as well).

Forgot the other thing from the game Priddis will be a steal this week. Thought he would have tonned it up but 97 is reasonable so will fall little more.

Yeah mate absolutely! I don't really know where you stand on this issue but imo the Lions list is easily top 8 material. They have some awesome young players (Golby, Hanley, Rocky, Rich, Redden, Mayes.. etc, there are many more) as well as some older heads that know what they're doing (Adcock, Moloney, Patfull/Goose, Browny). I do think they need a better coach though, If they had an experienced coach with a list like that... watch out!

There were a couple of contentious umpiring decisions that at critical times that may have changed the result as Brisbane may not have been in the position to chase down at the end of the game.

I think the umpires really have got on the Naitanui bandwagon and he really gets the rub of the green. Do not get me wrong he is a great talent but he should be umpired the same way as everyone else. 2 Holding the ball decision/incorrect disposals against him should have been in the forward 50 which may have resulted in Brisbane Goals and coupled with his given mark in the first quarter there is a possible 18 points and the final free 50 metres which baffles me and the result could have been different.

Was a great game however and after the umpiring a couple of brain fades (Golby costing us a goal) and wrong options also cost us the game. In my opinion a draw would have been nice but I can not complain as I had Brisbane at 26.5 for the win. Lucky.

I'm gonna put it out there the umpiring across the board has been below standard this season. I mean, yeah, everyone loves to hate the umps, but usually it's bearable.. This season it has been pretty appalling. :-\
